Dear Friends,
We are writing this letter to urge you to vote in the
March 8th election. It is important that the voice of our community be heard in the halls of government. The best way to assure this is by voting.
Specifically we ask that you support
Scott Svonkin, Candidate for Community College Seat #5. This is an important office that has great impact on educational issues. Scott has been a great friend of the Jewish Community in LA for years. We have turned to him many times for help and he has always delivered. Now it it's our turn to be there for him.
Scott's roots in the Los Angeles Jewish community are generations deep, as is his commitment. His great uncle was the shamus of the City's first and proudest synagogue, the historic Breed Street Shul. He has served as Chairman of the Jewish Community Relations commission of the Federation's Valley Alliance and as Vice President of B'nai Brith of Southern California.
Scott began his political career as Jewish Liaison for Mayor Tom Bradley, and has served as Chief of Staff for Assemblyman Paul Koretz, under whom he stewarded the groundbreaking California Holocaust Education Training Bill.
Currently, his important 'day job' is as senior advisor to Sheriff Lee Baca, where his broad range of involvement on a daily basis makes him the 'go-to guy' to help on an endless array of issues, whether communal or personal.
Finally, he is no novice in the arena of public education, currently serving with distinction on the San Gabriel School Board.
And that is why we ask that you vote for Scott Svonkin for Community College Seat #5on March 8th.
