Homecoming 2012 Next week our students will celebrate Homecoming 2012. In addition to many great activities at school, we are in the process of planning for a great dance following the football game. Please consider donating the following:
Bottled Water
Individually packaged snacks (pretzels, chips, crackers, etc)
Packaged cookies
There will be a tub in the main office next week where you can drop off your donations---thanks in advance for your help.
We are also in need of
volunteers to assist with decorating, chaperoning the dance, photography and clean up.
Please contact Debi Titus at
debi.titus@att.net
if you can assist in any of these capacities.
Walk of Hope
Come out and be a part of Team Guerin Catholic at the 2012 Walk of Hope and the Village of Hope Community Fair, being held Saturday, October 6th at Lions Park in Zionsville.
There are two ways to get involved as we join forces with members of the community in striving to raise hope, funds and awareness for those facing cancer in Central Indiana.
Volunteer: We need students and adults to serve on the Guerin Catholic Volunteer Crew to assist at this year's walk. There are still opportunities in the areas of finish line support, set up (Saturday Morning), tear down, kids zone and registration.
Walk: Join Team Guerin Catholic as a walker at this year's event. The fee is $25, 100% of which will benefit pediatric oncology patients at Peyton Manning Children's Hospital. Walkers can do additional fundraising on their own. There will be trophy recognition for the largest school team as well as the top student fundraiser at this year's event...so think big!
Invite friends and family to join you for this incredible event! For more information email Kathy Pelletier at
kpelleti@stvincent.org
El Salvador over Spring Break
Guerin Catholic will be sponsoring a trip to El Salvador over spring break,
April 5-12, 2013. The trip will be open to 12 students. We will travel to Guarjila, El Salvador. The trip has something for everyone: It is an immersion trip, with students living in the homes of Guarjila villagers for three nights. It is a social justice / Church history trip as students learn about and visit the sites of the civil war in El Salvador and the executions of numerous religious figures, including Archbishop Oscar Romero. It is a good will trip,as students will interact with and get to know many of the Tamarindo youth in the area. Finally, it has a mission trip componenet, as there will be a service project on the agenda for one of the days.
There will be a student information meeting on Thursday, September 20th at 7:00 a.m. in the cafeteria. This will be informational only. No commitment will be required at that time. We will ask students to take all of the information and discuss it with their parents. There will be a subsequent meeting (date tbd) for students (and their parents) who are seriously thinking about making the trip. We will be setting deadlines for commitments following that meeting.
Fr. Janko, Mrs. Foerder, and Deacon Rick will be supervising the trip. Deacon Rick made the trip last year to 'scout it out' for Guerin Catholic, and he is excited to take students this year!
IB Information Night

Speaker at OLMC Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish is sponsoring a talk on October 13 by Sr. Mary Diana Dreger, O.P., M.D. titled Conscience: Professional, Political and Personal from 7-8:30 PM in the St. Thomas Aquinas Room of OLMC. In this election year, we thought this would be a great talk for all of us struggling with what it means to be a conscientious Catholic voter. Her dual vocations as physician and nun give her a wonderful perspective that can hopefully help us understand how to form our consciences ... professionally, personally and politically. We'd like as many people as possible to hear her, including those high school students of voting age.
