You ever wonder if your children get it? We share our values with them and try our best to teach them right from wrong. We discipline them when they mess up, but we're not really sure the discipline works. We push, prod, cajole, and beg them to be good people. But they have become so skilled in tuning us out that we are not sure they are even listening. Worse still we may get blank stares or even defiance in return. (I don't understand - we never treated our parents like that, right?) Parents seldom receive immediate gratification. Payoff may come much later or not at all. Or as grandma used to say, "You may need to put a bunch of quarters in the machine before the gumball comes out." (more...)

 

Commencement 

Congratulations to the 117-member class of 2012 who were offered more than $13 million in college scholarships, and who also have a 100% college matriculation rate!!!

Our Guerin Catholic graduates are going on to attend some of the world's most prestigious universities and will certainly take a piece of Guerin Catholic with them as they Lead with Humility, Serve with Love, and Trust in Providence!! Summer Reading 

The summer reading list is now available for all students who will be attending Guerin Catholic HS for the 2012-13 school year, including incoming freshmen.  The list can be found by clicking HERE or on the home page or under "Academics" on the Guerin Catholic website.

Please remember that a textbook may have more than one correct ISBN# and copyright date.  Author, title, publisher and edition are most important!   Lots of great information and tips for buying and selling textbooks can also be found by clicking HERE. Follett Book Buyback
Follett Books will be at Guerin Catholic on Tuesday, June 12 from 10:00am-1:00pm in the cafetorium to buy back your used books.  Follett sets the prices they will pay and will often purchase books that will no longer be used at Guerin Catholic.  See the Guide to Textbook Buying, Selling and Other Little Tricks by clicking HERE or on the Guerin Catholic website under "Academics".     

 

Parent Guild Used Book & Uniform Sale (UBUS) 

The Parent Guild will host the Used Book and Uniform Sale this summer 

June 12-13 and July 18.

• June 12: The Parent Guild will host a Book Buyback from 10am -1pm and 4pm-7pm for textbooks and used uniforms from parents wishing to sell these items. (Follett will also be onsite June 12 to purchase used books but will ONLY  be available that day from 10 am-1 pm).

• June 13 from 4pm-7pm will sell textbooks and uniforms.  

• Our July 18 sale is a one day event.  

• 10am-1pm--The Parent Guild will Buy Back books and uniforms 

• 4pm-7pm--Parent Guild will sell textbooks and uniforms

Attention all Mother's of Senior girls!!!!  You are invited to our final Mother/Daughter meeting on Tuesday, May 29th at 7pm in the Cafetorium. The theme of our last meeting will be "Heading Off To College".  We will have a variety of speakers including Guerin Catholic Alumni who have just completed their freshman year of college. St. Vincent is again offering physicals to Guerin Catholic student-athletes for $20 on Sunday, June 10, at the Carmel St.Vincent location.

Broadcasting Club 

The Guerin Catholic Broadcasting Club has big plans for the 2012-'13 school year.  We'll be streaming many of Guerin Catholic's sporting events live on the internet.  Members of the club will handle announcing, camera operations, producing, directing and more.   Participation in the club will count as Guerin Catholic service hours.   If you're interested contact Brian Hammons at

Soles 4 Souls 

Thank you to all who have brought in used shoes for the Soles4Souls shoe drive.  We will be collecting all next week and would like to overflow the boxes in our final week.  It's simple - bring in any shoes, in any condition to the boxes near the front office.  I will do the rest.  Thanks again, Grace Poynter
