Mr. Wagner's Letter

There is probably not a more difficult thing to accept and understand than hearing that a young person is sick. One of our seniors has been diagnosed with cancer. Cancer - the word itself evokes a visceral response from a school community that has dealt with what feels like more than our fair share of this devastating disease. So many questions come to mind. There are questions of practicality: What is causing this to occur at Guerin Catholic? Could this have been prevented? There are questions that challenge our faith: Why has God allowed this to happen? Where is the good in this? There are call-to-action questions: What can I do to help? How can I reach out to those affected? (more...)

jJason Evert at Guerin Catholic

On May 16, at 9 a.m., the Guerin Catholic Parent Guild is pleased to welcome Jason Evert who will be presenting to Guerin Catholic students:

Romance without Regret: Today's teens experience greater temptations than ever before. In the midst of this cultural assault against innocence and virtue, young people need convincing reasons to practice the virtue of chastity. Some think that "chastity" simply means "not having sex." But that's mere abstinence: what you can't do and can't have. Chastity is more than that, it is about what you can do and have-right now: a lifestyle that brings freedom, respect, peace, and romance without regret. By addressing the issues that teens struggle with most, such as sexual pressure, pornography, modesty, and starting over, Jason and Crystalina offer encouragement for teens to maintain their purity or begin again if they've made mistakes in the past.  Click here to view the flyer.

Romance without Regret is intended for Guerin Catholic students. However parents are welcome to watch via livestream via the Guerin Catholic website.

Evert will also host a PARENT PRESENTATION at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church on Tuesday, May 15, at 7 p.m.

Men's Golf
Guerin Catholic finished 4th at Heartland Crossing last Saturday.  Finishing with a 75 was Mitch Thiem who was 4th overall individually.  Following was Travis Fellmeth with an 80; Henry Stevens (84); Jack Zachary (86); and Mitchell Paige (87).  Good job on a rough windy and rainy day.
The guys played very well at Purgatory (home of sectionals)and posted a huge win over Lapel & Cardinal Ritter.  Guerin Catholic posted a 153; Lapel-175; and Cardinal-179.  Co-medalist were Mitch Thiem and Mitchell Paige with 37; Ryan Kimmerling (39), Travis Fellmeth (40); Jacob King (41); & Henry Stevens (44) rounded our the Guerin Catholic team!
Fantastic team effort against a tough Fishers team in rotten conditions.  The team tied with 168 and won on fifth score (Kimmerling with a 45).  Low man was Jack Zachary with a solid 41.

On April 28, the Men's Varsity played the Rochester Invitational at Round Barn Golf Club.  Guerin Catholic battled the elements with weather delays to finish fourth with 428.  Scoring for GCHS was Ryan Stano (81), Tayler Vickery (85), Tyler Vickery (86), Ryan Kimmerling (88) and Jacob King (90).

Unfortunately, Tuesday's golf match at Purgatory Golf Course against Noblesville and Carmel was rained out.

Tomorrow, Saturday, May 5th, Guerin Catholic will compete against 12 other teams in the Brebeuf Invitational.  Come support your Golden Eagles at Woodwind for the 1:00 p.m shot-gun start.  Your GCHS team will be teeing off on holes 16, 17 & 18.
