 Mr. Wagner's Letter
One day each month I invite 24 students (8 per lunch period) to Pizza with the Principal. It is a chance for me to interact with students informally and ask for their input and suggestions, as well as hear their thoughts on what we could do better. I usually invite two students from each grade level. This month, however, I invited all seniors. I wanted to hear their thoughts on their entire Guerin Catholic experience. Where could we find more timely perspectives? (more...)
Jason Evert at Guerin Catholic
On May 16, at 9 a.m., the Guerin Catholic Parent Guild is pleased to welcome Jason Evert who will be presenting to Guerin Catholic students:
Romance without Regret: Today's teens experience greater temptations than ever before. In the midst of this cultural assault against innocence and virtue, young people need convincing reasons to practice the virtue of chastity. Some think that "chastity" simply means "not having sex." But that's mere abstinence: what you can't do and can't have. Chastity is more than that, it is about what you can do and have-right now: a lifestyle that brings freedom, respect, peace, and romance without regret. By addressing the issues that teens struggle with most, such as sexual pressure, pornography, modesty, and starting over, Jason and Crystalina offer encouragement for teens to maintain their purity or begin again if they've made mistakes in the past. Click here to view the flyer.
Romance without Regret is intended for Guerin Catholic students. However parents are welcome to watch via livestream via the Guerin Catholic website.
Evert will also host a PARENT PRESENTATION at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church on Tuesday, May 15, at 7 p.m.
Evert holds a Master's degree in Theology and undergraduate degrees in Theology and Counseling, with a minor in Philosophy from Franciscan University of Steubenville. Jason is a staff apologist and speaker with Catholic Answers, giving presentations to teens at seminars and conferences all over the world. He has appeared on worldwide television defending the faith, and as a radio guest on Catholic Answers Live and on radio programs throughout the country. He has authored several books including: Pure Love, Answering Jehovah's Witnesses, If You Really Loved Me: 100 Questions On Dating, Relationships, and Sexual Purity, andLove, Sex and Babies which challenge young people to embrace the virtue of chastity. Jason and his wife Crystalina are on the Board of Advisors for the National Abstinence Clearinghouse. Their television appearances include Donahue, Fox News, BBC, WGN, and EWTN.

Claudia Brown
Congratulations to Claudia Brown, a freshman at Guerin Cathoic, who was discovered by Shawn Campbell (a music producer and A&R from LA) in November of 2011. Campbell is the same producer who discovered teen pop star Cody Simpson. Since then, Campbell has worked with Claudia to produce three songs she wrote. She flew to LA in early February to record with him at Capital Records. He is excited about Claudia and is beginning the process of promoting her with the ultimate goal of securing a record label. She will release a cover song on YouTube every Wednesday for the next three weeks. The producer is flying here in a couple of weeks to shoot a music video for one of her original songs. If you want to support Claudia, go to her youtube channel (claudiaschannel) and listen, subscribe, comment and like the songs. The best thing to do is to share the link with friends all over. You can also stay updated by following her on twitter @ClaudiaMBrown. Claudia and her family thank you for your support!
