We will be on a two-hour delay schedule on February 6,  

the day following the Super Bowl.  

 

Tuesday, February 14  

Students released at 2:30 p.m.

The 2:30 p.m. early release for students (to allow for an extended faculty meeting) originally scheduled for February 7 has been postponed to February 14.     

 

GWGame of the Week

Be sure to get to the Eagles Nest tonight as the Golden Eagles host Brebeuf in Men's & Women's Basketball and will be featured as the VYPE game of the week!! Also, please consider bringing a pair of new athletic shoes to support Samaritan's Feet!! Men's Head Coach Pete Smith will be coaching barefoot in support of this worthy cause for the fourth year in a row. Tip off for the women is at 6 p.m. with the men's game following. We expect a large turnout so please plan to arrive early!! 

   

PRProgress Reports
Progress Report Night was held on January 18th. If you were unable to attend, all of your student's grades are posted on ANGEL for review at any time. If you would like to have your child's progress report mailed to you, please contact Leona Chianello at (317) 582-0120 ext. 231

We appreciate your patience as the kinks are being worked out on the new service hours website! We hope to have the site up and running soon.

Service Opportunities
Volunteers are needed to work at the St. Elizabeth Seton Mardi Gras and Mardi de Montfort at St. Louis de Montfort.

St. Elizabeth Seton:
 Volunteers would be needed for set-up from 10-2 PM on February 18th. Contact Meggie Gallina for more information.

St. Louis de Montfort:
Volunteers would be needed to work at the event from 5-10 PM on February 18.  Students must be trained on the QTEGO system. Contact Meggie Gallina for more information.
It would be wonderful if students from these two parishes would volunteer at these events.

The St. Elizabeth Seton Preschool and Kindergarten is looking for volunteers for our upcoming carnival on Friday, January 27 - 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 and Saturday, January 28 - 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

Jobs Include moving tables and chairs from the basement, taping off game areas, setting up games, and other tasks as directed.  Can Use up to 20 people.  Volunteers for Saturday should come dressed in spiritwear from their school.  Students are not to use wireless devices while volunteering.  Students volunteering on Saturday need to interact with children in an outgoing and fun manner.  From 3 to 3:30 p.m. volunteers will assist with taking down the carnival and some lifting will be required (putting chairs and tables back in the basement). Interested students should respond to Tracy Schnase at tracy.schnase@seas-carmel.org or at 816-0045.

ddDad's Day Breakfast

The next Dad's Day Breakfast will take place on Friday, January  27, at 6:15 a.m. and will feature Josh Bleill, who while serving in Iraq was severely injured, resulting in the loss of both of his legs.  After extensive rehabilitation, Bleill returned to Indiana in August of 2008, where he attacked his new life head-on.  This new life included employment as the Indianapolis Colts Community Spokesperson. GCFAGCFA Present: Leaving Iowa 

The Guerin Catholic Fine Arts Alliance Presents the play "Leaving Iowa", a comedy about family vacations, by Tim Clue and Spike Manton.   The spark behind Leaving Iowa comes from being children of parents from the now dubbed "greatest generation." The story is a toast to their idealism and character and a little roast of their undying dedication to the classic family road trip.   

The play opens on Thursday, February 2nd at 7:00 p.m..  Tickets are $10 each and Guerin Catholic students are admitted free of charge with a valid school ID.  The play continues on Friday, February 3rd, and closes with a final performance on Saturday, February 4th.  All shows times are 7:00 pm.

We will be taking orders for Guerin Catholic yard signs once again.  Please fill out the attached form and return it with payment to the business office no later than Friday, February 3, 2012.  This will be our FINAL order for this school year.

Basketball 
The Women's & Men's Basketball teams will take on Brebeuf tonight at the Eagle's Nest!! Bring in a pair of new athletic shoes to support the Samaratin's Feet organization and watch Men's Head Coach Pete Smith coach barefoot in support of this worthy cause! 
 

Hockey 

Your hockey team had a tough weekend last weekend.  The bright spot came with a win over Kankakee, but the weekend also included losses to Lake Central, Crown Point and Munster.  Hockey in the Region is as harsh as the winter weather!

Show your support for your Guerin Catholic skaters on Saturday as they take on Brebeuf at the Carmel Ice Skadium at at 4:45 pm.  The team hits the road again on Sunday with games against Homestead and Bishop Dwenger in Fort Wayne.

ggGuerin Catholic "Garden" Club Call Out
Do you like to dig in the dirt?  Would you like to help grow a garden?  Are you simply interested in helping others?  Join us on Thursday, January 26th at 3:30 p.m. for an informational meeting about Guerin's newest outreach to our community!  This will be a student run/student managed garden growing right here on our campus with the intent of providing fresh produce to local food pantries during the growing season.  The club will be open to all students, including incoming freshman and outgoing seniors.  Parent involvement will also be welcomed.  The meeting will be held in room 730 (Miss Wassel's room).  For more information, call or text Tod Boise at (317) 460-5754 or email him at tod@smithindustrialgroup.com.
