 Mr. Wagner's Letter
I continue to consider resolutions for the new year...
Resolution #2: Re-connect by disconnecting
It is a sad reality that over these past few decades, a number of things that were once considered quite ordinary have become lost art forms: face-to-face conversations, hand-written letters and notes, family dinners, hugging our children, simplicity, and contentedness to name a few.

Progress Report Night
Progress Report Night will take place on Wednesday, January 18, from 4:15-7 p.m. at Guerin Catholic High School. At the main entrance, parents will be able to pick up a copy of their student's Progress Report. Teachers will be seated at tables throughout the building --- the main hallways, cafeteria and Media Center. The location of teachers will be indicated on the Progress Report. Parents then have the option of choosing which, if any, teachers they would like to see. To allow teachers to see as many parents as possible, we ask parents to limit their time with any one teacher to five minutes. If more time is needed, the parent and teacher should set up a subsequent meeting that will allow them more time. Please know that this is not a required evening for parents, but rather an opportunity we offer to those with academic questions or concerns regarding their child. With the ability to track student progress regularly via the ANGEL network, parents may not feel the need to attend this event. Progress Reports will be mailed out to any family not in attendance. Dad's Day Breakfast
The next Dad's Day Breakfast will take place on Friday, January 27, at 6:15 a.m. and will feature Josh Bleill, who while serving in Iraq was severely injured, resulting in the loss of both of his legs. After extensive rehabilitation, Bleill returned to Indiana in August of 2008, where he attacked his new life head-on. This new life included employment as the Indianapolis Colts Community Spokesperson. (Click here for full bio) Don't miss hearing his inspirational message! Please RSVP to Cathy Dolan no later than Friday, January 20. Notes from Campus Ministry Service Hours WebsiteThe service hours website, is undergoing some maintenance and is currently unavailable. Thanks for your patience while we get these issues worked out.

The play opens on Thursday, February 2nd at 7:00 p.m.. Tickets are $10 each and Guerin Catholic students are admitted free of charge with a valid school ID. The play continues on Friday, February 3rd, and closes with a final performance on Saturday, February 4th. All shows times are 7:00 pm.

Great job to the Guerin Catholic wrestling program these past few weeks. Last Saturday, the Golden Eagles traveled to Evansville and competed in a super six wrestling meet. The team went 3-2 on the day with wins over Evansville Bosse, Bullet East, KY and Washington. Matt Rivas (152) and Patrick Vondersaar (285) were both 5-0 for the day. With four wins was Matt Thomas (145), Brady McGinnis (160), Jaylen Holmquist (106) and Ben Almack (195) all had three wins. The team then continued their winning ways on Jan. 11th competing in a home meet against Brebeuf and Park Tudor. GC Wrestling beat Brebeuf 36-24 and Park Tudor 48-18. This raised their season total to 8-10. Winning both matches were Jaylen Holmquist (106), Dwayne Southworth (132), Matt Rivas (152), Brady McGinnis (160) and Patrick Vondersaar (285). The team will host home meets on Jan. 17th against Sheridan and Jan. 24th vs. Chatard (Senior Night). Please come and support your Guerin Catholic wrestling program!!
Hockey
Your Guerin Catholic hockey team came back from break with a strong performance against Cathedral-Chatard. Nick Bove had 41 saves in the 6-3 victory. Kyle Brinkworth scored two goals and Will Hadden and David Shingler had a goal each. Sunday's game told a different story - an 8-0 shutout for Brebeuf (did some of our skaters dance too hard at the winter formal?), but your team will get another chance against Brebeuf on Jan. 21 at the Carmel Rink. This coming weekend the Millers take it on the road on Saturday and Sunday to play games against Kankakee, Munster, Crown Point and Lake Central.
