New Year's resolution #1: Keep pride in check

Pride is apparently difficult to define, as the dictionary offers three very different definitions for the word. It is a tough concept to grasp. On one hand, pride can be a good thing. We want to take pride in our work - our daily work in the adult world or our schoolwork as a student. We want to take pride in ourselves - in how we look, how we behave, and how we carry ourselves as upright and moral human beings. (more...)

PRNProgress Report Night

Progress Report Night will take place on Wednesday, January 18, from 4:15-7 p.m. at Guerin Catholic High School.

At the main entrance, parents will be able to pick up a copy of their student's Progress Report. Teachers will be seated at tables throughout the building --- the main hallways, cafeteria and Media Center. The location of teachers will be indicated on the Progress Report. Parents then have the option of choosing which, if any, teachers they would like to see. To allow teachers to see as many parents as possible, we ask parents to limit their time with any one teacher to five minutes. If more time is needed, the parent and teacher should set up a subsequent meeting that will allow them more time. Please know that this is not a required evening for parents, but rather an opportunity we offer to those with academic questions or concerns regarding their child. With the ability to track student progress regularly via the ANGEL network, parents may not feel the need to attend this event. Progress Reports will be mailed out to any family not in attendance.

yb2011 Aquila Yearbook Earns Honor Rating!

Under the leadership of senior editors Sydney Harmon and Meagan Schneider, Guerin Catholic's yearbook received an honor rating of First Class with One Mark of Distinction from the National Scholastic Press Association Critique Service.  The NSPA and its divisions promote the standards and ethics of good journalism as accepted and practiced by print, broadcast, and electronic media in the United States.  Professional journalists critiqued our first full-color "We Are Purple" 2010 yearbook, commenting and scoring on several different categories such as coverage, writing, and design; we received One Mark of Distinction in the design category. Congratulations to our entire 2010-2011 yearbook staff for all of their creativity, diligence, and dedication!

"For the award committee within the NSCAA to recognize PK for all he has done, and will continue to do for the game is awesome.  When I think of all the hard working, very qualified assistant coaches working to better the game and instill life lessons within their players, not only in our state, but throughout our region, this truly is a phenomenal honor for Coach Kelly.  The staff and players are very excited for, and proud of him."
