Let me start by saying my kids love Christmas presents as much as any other kids. They always have. But now that they are older, we take more opportunities to sit around during the holidays to reminisce. And when it comes to their Christmas memories, it is not about what presents they received. Winter Dance
The Winter Semi-formal Dance will be held at Guerin Catholic in the gymnasium on Saturday, January 7th from 8-11pm. Tickets will be sold the week after we return from Christmas break for $10/person. If you are asking someone that does not attend GC please pick up a release form from the office. Please follow the dress code which has been given with every sold ticket and inform your guest of the dress code if they are from another school. The Winter Dance is only held every other year so join us for a wonderful, winter dance!
Trivia Challenge--March 17, 2012
Nollaig Shona Dhaoibh...that is the Irish Gaelic way to say "You have a Merry Christmas !". The Trivia Challenge Committee wishes you and yours the most wonderful of Christmases and a Happy and Healthy 2012 ! When you get your NEW YEARS' calendar, be sure to write in another FESTIVE event, the TRIVIA CHALLENGE ! The Trivia Challenge is the Parent Guild's ONLY fundraiser, but most important, it is a total blast !
The event will be held AT GUERIN CATHOLIC on Saturday, March 17. Registrations will be available by mid-January and VOLUNTEERS are always welcome. It is as much fun to play at the TRIVIA CHALLENGE as it is to work it...Questions...or want to volunteer, contact Jackie Mewborn

Christmas Light Show to Benefit
Xavier Murphy Scholarship Fund
The family of sophomore Alex Lorek puts on a not-to-be-missed computer-controlled Christmas light show every year to raise money for charity. Over the last several years, the Loreks have raised thousands of dollars for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and for the American Cancer Society. Even more exciting this year is that for this weekend (December 16th -18th), all donations will go the the Xavier Murphy Scholarship Fund at Guerin Catholic! Students & Medications Reminder
A reminder to parents regarding students and medication.
It is against Indiana Codes for students to carry and self-administer medications a.) without parental consent and b.) without a note from their physician stating that they have a "chronic disease or medical condition" that requires a certain medication (IC 20-33-8-13).
We need to enforce this code in order to keep our students safe and to protect the school.
All Health Services polices can be found on pages 23-25 of the Guerin Catholic Student Handbook. Your student has a copy of this handbook and it can also be found on our website. Your help is appreciated.
Professional Career Internship
We have two interns who are wishing to be placed in the Medical field in the areas of Neurology, Pediatric Oncology, Pediatric Neurology, & Cardiology. If you are interested in Mentoring one of our Interns, please contact Polly White, Business Department Chair. Your Mentoring responsibilities would include allowing the student to interact in your day-to-day responsibilities for 5-7 hours per week. Students are available after 2:00 p.m. each day.

Athletics Updates
Men's Basketball
The mens varsity basketball team is off to a 3-1 start, and they have three huge challenges coming up, all on the road. The team plays at Lawrence North on Friday night at 7:30, and the game will be the tv-40 game of the week. It will be broadcast at 10:30 (tape-delayed) on Friday night.
The next night the Golden Eagles will play at Anderson. Saturday night's game will also tip-off at 7:30.
Next week the Golden Eagles will be in the Catholic Classic Shootout at Bishop Chatard. Guerin Catholic will take on Hammond Bishop Noll at 6:00 on Thursday, December 22.
The roundball team hopes you can take in the pre-Christmas action, as all three games will be great challenges for our team.

Hockey Last weekend your hockey team dropped a non-league game to Talawanda and a league game to HSE A. Guerin Catholic skaters Jack Zachary, David Shingler, Andrew Eicher and Luke DeWaal each scored a goal in the Millers 6-4 loss to HSE A. This weekend your team takes it on the road again to play four games in the Winter Classic Tournament in Kettering, Ohio. After a well-deserved Christmas break, the Millers return to action on Saturday, January 7, 2012, taking on Cathedral Chatard at the Forum at 5:45 p.m. On Sunday, January 8, 2012, the Millers meet Brebeuf at the Forum at 12:30 p.m. Come on out and show your support for your Guerin Skaters! There will be a parent meeting Tuesday, January 3rd in the media center from 5:30-6:15 p.m. This is a very important meeting for parents of student athletes participating in Track & Field this coming spring. Football parents will be done in time to attend the college football information night.
