Mr. Wagner's Letter

As I have gone through the deacon formation process the last few years, I have noticed that more and more people are asking me to pray for them or for someone they know who is suffering. I understand why we ask saints to intercede on our behalf - "St. Theodore Guerin, pray for us!" Saints are closer to God, right? They live in the same neighborhood and can walk over, knock on His door, and speak with Him directly. So while I have dutifully prayed for anyone who has asked, I have been a bit unsure of how my prayers would be of any great benefit. (more...)

The week before Christmas vacation is always a busy one. Here are a few of the highlights for next week:

 

Monday, December 12-Wednesday, December 14

Please ask your student about their Kairos' donation to the Guerin Catholic Gala! Please try to have your donation into school at the beginning of next week! Thanks in advance for your participation. 

 

Tuesday, December 13 

Charity Spirit Day:

The charity benefitting from the day will be Ken-ya Help Us. Students, faculty & staff are able to wear jeans and Guerin Catholic spirit wear in exchange for a $2 donation.  

 

Parent Guild Christmas Lunch 

Special thanks to our amazing Parent Guild for preparing a luncheon for faculty and staff to enjoy! While we are giving thanks, we'd like to acknowledge the hugely successful and appreciated "Tuesday Treats" that Parent Guild brings in every Tuesday morning as well! Thank you for taking such great care of us!!

 

Thursday, December 15

W will have a 'Spirit of the Season' dress day on Thursday, December 15. Students, as well as faculty and staff, may wear red and green shirts or "ugly" Christmas sweaters with jeans, or may opt for traditional spirit wear.

 

Christmas Band & Choral Concert at SEAS, 7 p.m. 

Come to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton to hear our award-winning band and choir as they perform their Annual Christmas Concert! 

 

Friday, December 16 

Join us for all-school Mass in the gymnasium at 8:30 a.m.

 

December 17 - January 2:      Christmas Break!

JYJulie Young to Speak at Guerin Catholic

On December 16th immediately following all school mass Julie Young will be speaking in the Media Center. Julie Young is the author of the Mother Guerin biography A Belief in Providence and The CYO in Indianapolis & Central Indiana . She will talk about her experience in writing a book about Mother Guerin and sign and sell copies of both her books. The Mother Guerin biography makes a great CHristmas gift for all.

hnoilHelp Needed at Lucas Oil

Guerin Catholic Student Council needs the assistance of five adults, who have completed the TIPS training and have their license, to work with them at Lucas Oil Stadium on December 18, 2011.

DCADECA Needs Judges 

Guerin Catholic's DECA chapter will be competing for the second year in the DECA Regional Competition at Carmel High School on Saturday, January 14, 8:00 a.m.     The DECA competition is judged by area business professionals in their specialized field.  There are approximately 40 different areas of Business competition.  If you are interested in judging, please contact Polly White for more details.  pwhite@guerincatholic.org  or 317 582-0120.

CXChristmas Light Show to Benefit  

Xavier Murphy Scholarship Fund 

The family of sophomore Alex Lorek puts on a not-to-be-missed computer-controlled Christmas light show every year to raise money for charity.  Over the last several years, the Loreks have raised thousands of dollars for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and for the American Cancer Society.  This year they are continuing the tradition with the American Cancer Society.  Even more exciting this year is that for the weekend of December 16th -18th, all donations will go the the Xavier Murphy Scholarship Fund!  For more information, directions, and updates, go to Facebook.com/ChristmasonVictory.   

 

sldmConcert at St. Louis deMontfort
Tatiana (Tajci) Cameron returns to SLDM on Wednesday evening, December 14th at 7:00 p.m. to perform "EMMANUEL - The Story of Christmas ". Tajci, in collaboration with Los Angeles based producer Denny Bouchard, adopted and arranged a wide array of musical styles, traditions and ethnic origins into a mesmerizing musical piece. This concert event is a true celebration of Christmas with laughter, joy, sorrow, hope, tears, family and faith as she takes you from her childhood in communist Yugoslavia to the back streets of the Bethlehem of old. . The concert will be held in the church and is free for all those who attend.  CD's will be available for sale and Tajci will be on hand for photos and signatures immediately following the concert. pciProfessional Career Internship 

We have two interns who are wishing to be placed in the Medical field in the areas of Neurology, Pediatric Oncology, Pediatric Neurology, & Cardiology.  If you are interested in Mentoring one of our Interns, please contact Polly White, Business Department Chair.  Your Mentoring responsibilities would include allowing the student to interact in your day-to-day responsibilities for 5-7 hours per week.  Students are available after 2:00 p.m. each day.

 

 

AUathleticsAthletics Updates

Hockey 

Your hockey team - the NHC Millers - faced tough tests on the road again last weekend.  They lost to Lakeshore St. Joseph in St. Joseph, Michigan on Saturday and to St. Joseph in South Bend on Sunday.  This week the team heads to Miami University in Oxford, Ohio to play Talawanda on Saturday night.  They finally return home on Sunday to play HSE A at the Fishers Forum at 11:15 am.  Come out on Sunday and cheer on your Guerin Catholic skaters!  Check out the complete schedule at www.noblesvillehockeyclub.com 

 

Tennis

Congratulations to Lauren Jonathan who won the 16-under girls singles at the Purdue Open-II this past weekend.  Lauren and younger sister Ashley teamed up to win the 16-under girls doubles.  Also congratulations to Kara McDonald who reached the semifinals in the consolation bracket of the same tournament.  

 

Women's Soccer

The women's soccer program was recently honored by the NSCAA.  For the second consecutive year, the program has received the NSCAA High School Team Academic Award, having earned a team cumulative GPA of 3.56 / 4.0.  "I'm incredibly proud of the ladies," said Coach McClure.  "This honor is a testament to how hard the ladies are working in the classroom, in addition to their service to the community, and their efforts on the pitch.  This recognition is to be shared with the staff at Guerin Catholic, for all of their preparation and effort put forth in pushing the ladies academically." Congratulations Golden Eagles!!!


Guerin Catholic Senior Allison Trusler was recently recognized with the NSCAA Senior Excellence Award ("For exceptional contributions to the team while exemplifying the finest attributes of a high school student athlete").  Great work Allison!  Your continued diligence in the community, in the classroom, and on the field has made, and continues to make a huge impact on those around you. Congratulations!!
