Mr. Wagner's Letter

I wish I understood death. I don't mean the shutting down of biological systems or the gradual deterioration of the body; I get that. I want to understand the 'why' questions. Why him? and Why now?

bdBlood Drive

Guerin Catholic and the Indiana Blood Center would like to thank all of the donations from last week's Blood Drive that was in support of Xavier Murphy. We had 90 potential donors through the door with 24 being deferred for various reasons... two main reasons being traveling out of the country to various places and low iron levels. Therefore, we had 66 pints collected. Our next Blood Drive will be Friday, March 2. Mark your calendars and we will see you then.

mathMath League

The Math Club opens the Math League season on Tuesday, October 18th.  As with all the contests, it's being held in our media center and begins at 7:00 a.m.  Each contest contains 6 questions that range from challenging to difficult.  Mathletes have 30 minutes to complete their quest, armed with their pencil, calculator, and mathematical acuity, to answer as many correctly as they can !  ALL math teachers encourage participation and even award some extra credit for getting up a half an hour earlier to test their problem solving skills.  Our top 5 scores are compiled and sent to the Math League to see how we measure up to over 80 Indiana high school participants!  You can check out those results at www.mathleague.com.  Awards for the top-scoring mathlete in each of the grades will be presented at the spring recognition program.  Mark your calendars for the other contest dates: November 15, December 13, January 10, February 14 , and March 13.

spSammy Pancol at the Palladium
Sammy Pancol, a senior in Guerin Catholic's Professional Career Internship Program, currently interning at the Palladium in Carmel, was invited to sing at the dedication and opening of the Palladium's GI Jive Music Museum.
Sammy sang among many performers; including singer, pianist and music revivalist--Michael Feinstein himself!! Following the performance, Sammy had an opportunity to talk with Michael Feinstein about her ambitions to attend Juilliard in the fall.  Sammy's performance was outstanding as she sang God Bless America to a crowd of local supports of the Center for the Performing Arts,  U.S Veterans, as well as, Linda Hope, Bob Hope's daughter.  Congratulations to Sammy Pancol on an outstanding performance!
