In addition to turning in all of your 2011-12 forms, all families will have the opportunity to shop for spiritwear, buy Mr. Wagner's book (he may even sign it for you!), purchase tickets for the Golden Eagles Football game at Lucas Oil stadium, eat a delicious meal & get together for one last time before the hustle and bustle of the school year begins.
The Worn Again Clothes Closet is in desperate need of girls skorts---please consider donating your used uniforms and bring them to the bash!!
There will also be giveaways---including roundtrip airline tickets---BUT YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN!!
Mr. Lunsford and Mr. Buhler have promised that this will be a day you won't want to miss as they have something planned that has never before taken place at Guerin Catholic!! Get your cameras ready!!

Just a reminder of the Orientation Schedule.
Senior Orientation -- August 15, 8-9:30 a.m.
(Bring Completed Parking Registration)
Junior Orientation -- August 15, 9-10:30 a.m.
(Bring Completed Parking Registration)
Soph. Orientation -- August 15, 10-11:30 a.m.
Freshmen Orientation -- August 15, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. (Lunch Provided)
Students are NOT expected to be in uniform, however please wear appropriate clothing (no cut-offs, no tight fitting tops or low necklines, no t-shirts with inappropriate messaging).
Band Callout!!
Mr. Webber, our new Band Director, will be having a 15 minute call-out right after each grade level orientation on Monday. He would like to meet with ALL students who have EVER played a band instrument. He says there is going to be FOOD and music, but no dancing. =)
Tuesday, August 16:
First Day of school for the 2011-12 school year.
Bells ring promptly at 7:45 a.m.
Dismissal is at 3:15 p.m.
Wednesday, August 17:
First All-School Mass of the 2011-12 school year.
9 a.m. in the gymnasium--all are welcome to attend.
Students should be in their mass-day uniforms.
Friday, August 19:
Summer Reading Projects Due
All Guerin Catholic students are reminded to submit their Summer Reading Project (s) to their KAIROS teacher by Friday, August 19. KAIROS teachers will have envelopes for students to place their flashdrives, papers, projects. All envelopes will be collected in KAIROS on Friday, August 19 and delivered to English teachers for grading. Any student with questions may contact his/her English teacher or Mrs. Shelley Horn, Language Arts Chairperson.

New Faculty & Staff
The Guerin Catholic family would like to welcome new members of the Faculty & Staff for the 2011-12 school year.
John Alves, Institutional Advancement
John is assisting Mr. Lunsford & Pamelia Storms Barrett in the Advancement Office. A graduate of Notre Dame, John has been involved with Catholic education on many levels for 30+ years.
Kelli Bridges, Full-time Spanish
Kelli will be moving from Munster, IN, where she has taught at Griffith High School for the last five years. She was active with Spell Bowl, International Club, and Booster Club at Griffith.
Kelli has traveled abroad to both Barcelona and Granada in Spain. She will be teaching Spanish I and II.
Tanya Carson, Part-time Business
Tanya leaves her position as Chief Operating Officer of MBS Associates, LLC to come to Guerin Catholic. She has an MBA from Ball State and is a licensed CPA. She has four years experience as an adjunct professor at Indiana University's Kelly School of Business and at the University of Indianapolis. Tanya will be teaching IB Business and Personal Finance.
Joey Garcia, Part-time Choral
Joey is a 2007 graduate of Guerin Catholic and graduated from Marian University this past May with a double major in Music Performance and Pastoral Music Ministry. He will be teaching Beginning and Advanced Chorus, as well as Intermediate Orchestra.
Joey is engaged to be married and will be marrying Mr. Wagner's youngest daughter Laura, in July of 2012.
Gwen Hess (Wieczorek), part-time Biology
Gwen will be joining our staff after one year at Fishers High School. She earned her Bachelors degree in Life Science Education from Ball State University. Gwen Hess will become Gwen Wieczorek when she marries in late August.
Fr. Joshua Janko, Director for Catholic Mission
Most of you know Fr. Janko as he has been a regular around Guerin Catholic for the past few years. In addition to keeping us focused on Catholic Mission, Fr. Janko will spend time in the classroom doing some teaching in the freshmen theology classes.
Tami Kaufman, Part-Time Accounting Office
Tami joined Guerin Catholic in May and works in payables in the Accounting office. In addition, Tami serves as the accountant for Indianapolis Symphonic Choir and Dance Kaleidoscope. She and her husband have three children and are members of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel.
Matt Lane, full-time Learning Differences
Matt comes to us after ten years at Noblesville High School. He earned both his Bachelors and Masters degrees at Ball State University. Matt is also an assistant football coach and the head wrestling coach for Guerin Catholic.
Jonathan McClure, Full-time Art
Many of you know Jonathan as the Head Coach of our very successful Women's Soccer Program. He was the ICGSA District 3 Coach of the Year in 2010. You may not know that he is also an accomplished artist and art teacher as well.
Jonathan comes to us with four years of teaching experience. He will be teaching
2-D Art, 3-D Art, Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture.
Nancy Miller, Director of Finance
A Guerin Catholic parent, Nancy is already familiar with the Guerin Catholic family. A licensed CPA, Nancy received her bachelor's degree in accounting from St. Mary-of-the-Woods College.
Sheryl Niccum, Full-time Language Arts
Sheryl will be moving here from Whiting, IN, where she has been teaching 9th and 10th grade English at Campagna Academy Charter School. She is a Saint Joseph's College alum, licensed to teach both Business and Language Arts.
Sheryl will be teaching Academic and Honors English 9 and Academic English 11.
John Webber, Full-time Instrumental Music
John comes to us from Australia, with stops in South Carolina, Georgia, and Iowa. He has 24 years of experience teaching every type of music imaginable. He is an active composer, a liturgical musician and a classical organist.
He mentioned that it was time to leave Iowa because he "was tired of looking out his classroom window at corn." Please do not allow John to look just north of his new classroom here at Guerin Catholic.
John will be teaching IB Music, Piano, Guitar, Intermediate Concert Band, and Music Theory and Composition.
Zach Blankenbaker, Theology 1 & Theology 7
Zach will be filling in for his wife, Justice, who recently gave birth to their first child, Ben. He is currently working on his Masters degree in Theology. He will be teaching first trimester courses. Fr. Janko will team-teach Theology 1 with Zach.
