School Office Closed August 12

Just a reminder that the school offices will be closed on Friday, August 12 as faculty and staff will be on their annual retreat. 

 

bsbVolunteers Needed for Back to School Bash  

The Guerin Catholic Parent Guild is in need of volunteers for our Annual Back to School Bash! This year's Bash will take place on Sunday, August 14, from 4-6 p.m. All families are encouraged to attend.  

There will be great prizes, including 4 Frontier Airline Tickets but you must be present to win!!!!

  

The "Worn Again" clothes closet is in desperate need of uniforms, especially skorts.  Please bring your outgrown uniforms to the Bash.

GOGolf Outing

Thanks to all the participants and supporters of this year's Golf Outing. The outing held yesterday at Purgatory Golf Course was a huge success!!! 

  

What a fantastic day of golf Wednesday at Purgatory Golf Club at the 10th Annual Guerin Catholic Golf Outing!! In addition to raising a significant amount of money for tuition assistance, we also had a Guerin Catholic Golf Outing First---Congrats to Ken Larose of the Fanning-Howey team who shot a hole-in-one on the 17th hole to win two tickets to the 2012 Masters Championship!! 

 

  

SR Summer Reading
Just a reminder that Summer Reading projects are due by August 19!  All students should have read a book from the summer reading list provided and completed their choice of project to be handed in to their Kairos teacher on August 19.  Click HERE to access the summer reading list and choice of projects.

OB Online Bookstore
Only a few more weeks to gather the textbooks needed for the first trimester!  Guerin Catholic has partnered with Follett Virtual Bookstores to help you find the books you need for the fall.  Go to www.guerincatholic.bkstr.com, click on textbooks and follow the onscreen instructions to select your child's classes. Complete the transaction as you would on any other website. All books are available.  If you have questions about an online transaction, call Follett Virtual Bookstores direct at (877) 827-2665. If you have questions about the textbook list or beginning -of-the-school-year activities, call the Guerin Catholic school office...we're happy to help!

Senior Orientation -- August 15, 8-9:30 a.m.

Junior Orientation -- August 15, 9-10:30 a.m.

Soph. Orientation -- August 15, 10-11:30 a.m.

Freshmen Orientation -- August 15, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. (Lunch Provided) 

  

Students are NOT expected to be in uniform, however please wear appropriate clothing (no cut-offs, no tight fitting tops or low necklines, no t-shirts with inappropriate messaging).

 
 

stSophomore Trigonometry Students

Sophomore Trig students: Please note that that ISBN# for your textbook is incorrect on the booklist that was published in May.  The correct ISBN# should be 978-1-876543-11-2.  The book is titled Math for the International Student HL (Core).  Students should not purchase the Worked Solutions book (only Mr. Lustig gets that one!). The correct book is also available on the Guerin Catholic online bookstore at www.guerincatholic.bkstr.com.  Please contact Peg Dispenzieri, Assistant Principal, at pdispenzieri@guerincatholic.org if you have further questions. 

 

 

aaAdministrative Assistant Needed 

St. Theodore Guerin High School is seeking an Administrative Assistant to the President.  The ideal candidate will have experience in assisting top level executives (certified administrative professional, preferred), strong organizational skills, relationship building skills, and the ability to interact effectively with a variety of people of influence and affluence.

In addition, the candidate should possess knowledge of office software including, but not limited to, PowerPoint, excel, & word.

With joy and gratitude the Franciscan Sisters, T.O.R. of Penance of the Sorrowful Mother announce the first profession of vows of Sr. Maria Clare Smith. She will be professing vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience before Bishop Gilbert Sheldon in the diocese of Steubenville, OH. The profession Mass will take place in the Father of Mercy Chapel on Saturday, August 6, 2011.  Sr. Maria Clare is the daughter of Gordon & Mary Ann Smith of St. Maria Goretti Parish.

Here is the updated list that has the trainings for the Summer to get all of our Parents/Students Trained.  Again, YOU MUST ATTEND A TRAINING SESSION TO WORK INSIDE THE BOOTH.  All with Liquor License must have the additional TIPS training (this is mandated by the state of Indiana) for you to be able to serve liquor.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mary Lynn Plocica - mjmp@aol.com, (317) 370-7721.

Dr. Chris Carr will visit Guerin Catholic on Wednesday, August 10, at 7 p.m.  to speak on "Mental Toughness:  How to Use Sport Psychology                     to Enhance the Mental Game"

Tickets to Football Game at Lucas Oil

Tickets for the Golden Eagles matchup with Central Catholic at Lucas Oil on August 27 are now available and will be sold at the Back to School Bash. Adult and Student tickets are $10, youth are $5. You can also stop by the athletic office to purchase your tickets.  

  

Guerin Catholic Girls Golf is Underway!   

The team opened their season on Monday by competing in the Brebeuf Tee-Off Tourney with Brebeuf, Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville, and North Central.  The Guerin Catholic team finished in 4th place, and Lucy Stevens received a medal for her 5th place individual position.  The team has three tournaments in the coming week:  Friday, 8/5, All Catholic Invitational at Riverside; Saturday, 8/6, Terre Haute North Invitational at Hulman Links; Tuesday, 8/9, Avon Invitational at Prestwick.  We are looking forward to a great season from our talented players:  Sarah Baxter, Mariah Callon, Whitney Gryna, Audrey Larkin, Kara Linton, Kara McDonald, Nora Sego, Lucy Stevens, and Sydney Sweitzer.  Good luck this season!

Gently worn GCHS uniforms and spirit wear are available free of charge to any GCHS family with financial need through the "Worn Again"  Clothes Closet.  We will set up a time for you to come by and see the great things we have to share with you.  All visits will be held in confidence.  Appointments can be made by contacting Barb Gallina via email at
