We invite you to stop in and taste the 2007 Viognier and a our new 2007 Rosé, which are being bottled on April 4th.  A big thanks in advance to all our friends who are coming to help.  The 2007 Viognier is once again made from grapes grown at Ridge Run Vineyard in Stuarts Draft by family members Jane & Jon Zieman.  We hope you enjoy it as much as the 2006 vintage.  The 2007 Rosé is a new wine for us, made from Cabernet Franc grown at our own Flying Fox Vineyard in Afton.  We think this might become our new favorite summer wine.  Light in color, dry, with flavors of soft red friut and a hint of almond.

The 2005 Cabernet Franc and 2005 Merlot are still available.  In June,  we will be bottling the 2006 reds including Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and a bordeaux blend. More details will follow as they become available.....

Pruning is still in progress in the vineyard and we expect bud-break to occur in the first week in April.  It has been a little cooler than last year at this time and we are happy that the vines are still quiet.  Hoping to avoid another April freeze.

We have the pleasure of hosting a new artist in the tasting room in April.  Michael Brookings of Waynesboro will be displaying some of his new oil paintings.  Here is a note from Michael to introduce himself.

"I have always enjoyed painting and drawing.  Two years ago I retired from the practice of Emergency Medicine to pursue my lifelong dream of becoming a professional artist.  It is a decision that I have enjoyed immensely.
I strive for realism in my paintings. I take delight in taking raw oil based colors and turning them into recognizable and realistic images.  I want those images to be beautiful renderings of beautiful scenes.  After 15 years in the Emergency Department I feel that there is always a need for more beauty.  My goal is to create rich, vivid, colorful paintings that invite the viewer to walk into the scene and enjoy.
I paint all genres, including still lifes, landscapes, figures, and portraits.  My paintings are available as originals and/or commissions."

We are looking forward to seeing old and new friends at the Staunton Farmer's Market which starts up again the first weekend in April.  Local produce and local wine are a great pairing.     7:00am to 12 noon, Saturday mornings at the Wharf Parking Lot in Staunton.

A new venture for us this year will be to participate in a some local wine festivals.  Look for us at the Virginia Fly Fishing Festival in Waynesboro on April 19 & 20th.

As a reminder, the Vineyard Coffeehouse will be open weekdays from 7:00am to 3:00pm for coffee, breakfast burritos and lunch specials.  Oh, and wine is available too!

We are glad that you have signed up for our newsletters and hope to see you in the tasting room this spring.
