NTD's China Channel Launch - NTD for Chinese Living Behind the Firewall

On April 1, NTD is launching a new channel specifically for the mainland Chinese audience - NTD's China Channel. The channel will broadcast uncensored news, talk shows, and news feature programs, all popular programs for the mainland Chinese audience who "flip over the wall" (circumvent the Internet censorship firewall system in China). Viewers will be able to watch Zooming In, Focus Talk, Inside China, Life Talk, Mainland News Dissector, News Click, NTD World News and China's Forbidden News.

NTD's Internet-based China Channel comes as we wait for the restoration of our satellite broadcast to China. We would like to thank the Global Internet Freedom Consortium for developing the anti-censorship platforms FreeGate and UltraSurf that allow mainlanders to get around the firewall.

The URL for the China Channel is http://www.ntdtv.com/china/.

Qing Ming Festival or Tomb Sweeping Day - April 5

The Qing Ming Festival (simplified Chinese: 清明节; traditional Chinese: 清明節) is a traditional Chinese holiday held on the 104th day after the winter solstice. It normally falls around April 5.
Qing Ming is a day to go out and enjoy spring, and also a day to attend to the graves of those who have passed.
In Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau the Qing Ming Festival has regularly been a national public holiday. In China the festival was reinstated in 2008 after being suppressed in 1949 when the communists took power.
There are a number of English translations for this festival:

  • Tomb Sweeping Day
  • Clear Bright Festival
  • Festival for Tending Graves
  • Ancestors Day
  • Grave Sweeping Day
  • Chinese Memorial Day
  • Spring Remembrance
  • All Souls Day (not the Roman Catholic holiday)

NTD and Epoch Times Partner with New York International Auto Show

From April 22 to May 1, one of the most important annual events in the automotive world returns to New York City -- the New York International Auto Show. Each year at the show, major auto companies debut new products and vehicle concepts. And this year auto enthusiasts at Javits Center will be able to pick up a guidebook printed in Chinese, courtesy of NTD Television and The Epoch Times newspaper.

Recognizing the growing purchasing power and influence of the ethnic Chinese market, the New York International Auto Show has partnered with NTD and The Epoch Times to create a beautifully designed keepsake for Chinese auto enthusiasts. If you go to this year's event, don't forget to pick up a copy of the Chinese guidebook and stop by the NTD booth to say hi to our staff!
