(BELFAST, ME, June 19, 2011) Six practitioners from Seaport Family Practice rode into Belfast at 11:00 on Sunday morning, completing a 3-day, 180-mile bike ride from Sunday River to benefit the American Lung Association. The six Seaport riders (David Loxterkamp, Chris Kramer, Elizabeth Connelly, Jeff Newsom, Megan Britton, James Bradney) were joined by Dr. Loxterkamp's son, John, and Dr. Newsom's father, Kirk. Seaport's team is called The Spin Doctors, and this year they wore a bright yellow t-shirt designed by Elizabeth Connelly (see photograph).
The 27th annual Trek Across Maine attracted 1,914 riders and raised $1.8 million for the American Lung Association, whose focus has shifted over the years from lung disease treatment to promotion of better air quality. Seaport Family Practice donated $350.00 for each of its riders in exchange for their donation of time in the office. Riders raise a minimum of $500.00 in order to participate.
We were blessed this year with sunny weather, incredible scenery, meticulous organization, warm hospitality, good friendship, and the joy of finishing in our home town.
Stay healthy,
Seaport Family Practice
