NACCHO's Toolbox is this Women and STDs Fact Sheet. The fact sheet was developed by the City of Milwaukee Health Department, and is written at an 8th grade reading level, targeting middle and high school-aged individuals. 

Call for Abstracts: Preconception Health and Health Care Resource Center

The Preconception Health and Health Care Resource Center will provide a centralized location for tools and resources LHDs and health professionals can use to advance the health of men and women of reproductive age and protect the health of future children and families. The resource center is soliciting program and policy abstracts for inclusion on the website. This first wave of abstract solicitation ends Feb. 20, 2012. Please submit all abstracts and questions to phhcresourcecenter@gmail.com.  

The Roots of Health Inequity: A Web-Based Course for the Public Health Workforce

roots of health inequity logoThe Roots of Health Inequity is an online learning collaborative and web-based course designed for the public health workforce. The site offers a starting place for those who want to address systemic differences in health and wellness that are actionable, unfair, and unjust. The course is an introduction to ground public health practitioners in concepts and strategies for taking action in everyday practice. NICHD Funding Announcement  

The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) has re-issued its Academic-Community Partnership Conference Series funding announcement. The purpose of this opportunity is to bring together academic institutions and community organizations to identify opportunities for addressing health disparities through the use of community-based participatory research. Pediatric and maternal HIV/AIDS prevention is one of many community health topic areas that can provide the focus for these partnerships. Applications are due April 10, 2012. Learn more

Webinar: Disseminating Messages through Social Networking Media 

computer02This training is designed to explain how social networking tools (such as Facebook and Twitter) are used to disseminate messaging and which tools are most appropriate for your organization's needs. Real-life case studies will also be discussed. The webinar will be held Feb. 22, 2012 at 3 PM EST. Register here

AAP: Advances in Health Promotion for Adolescents and Young Adults 

Advances in Health Promotion for Adolescents and Young Adults, from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), highlights achievements in adolescent health research and practice. This volume includes insight and input from a broad range of health professionals, and is designed to advise policymakers and practitioners. Visit the AAP Bookstore to learn more.
