National Youth Advocacy Center Hosts HIV and Youth Professional Development Webinars The National Youth Advocacy Coalition will launch a series of four professional development webinars beginning this fall for people working to engage lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) youth. The webinar series will include topics such as HIV counseling and testing protocols, creating safe spaces for LGBTQ youth, and working with transgender youth. The Infectiousness of Tuberculosis Patients Coinfected with HIV A recent article published in Public Library of Science presents results of a study conducted to evaluate the infectiousness of multidrug-resistant (MDR) tuberculosis (TB) patients coinfected with HIV. The study found that a small number of highly infectious people were responsible for the majority of TB transmission. To read this article, click here. |
Department of Health Promotes STD Testing With Online System The San Francisco Department of Health and Internet Sexuality Information Services, Inc. (ISIS) are currently expanding efforts to improve STD testing rates in the San Francisco Bay area. The Web site www.STDtest.org allows people to take an online self-assessment to determine which STD tests are most appropriate based on their individual behaviors and risk factors.
