Our "Healthy Recipes" Cooking Class was an huge success!
America Gonzalez has done it again!
All 10 people at last week's Hammertown Cooking Class were raving about the delicious and easy (and amazingly NO fat) recipes America shared with us.
Happily, one of the participants was photographer, Lynn Karlin, who recently had a very successful photography exhibit at Hammertown Rhinebeck Gallery and Hammertown Barn. She offered to document the event. It made me hungry just looking at them!

We've got Margaret Roach's new book in at Hammertown!
I've just started reading Margaret Roach's new memoir And I Shall Have Some Peace There...Trading in the Fast Lane for My Own Dirt Road, and so far, it is fantastic! I'm already casting the movie in my head!
For those of you who don't know Margaret, she is the former editorial director of Martha Stewart Omnimedia and this book follows her decision to give up her high powered job (and New York City) and move full-time to Copake Falls, NY. It's a truly inspiring book about finding and following your dreams.
"It is a story about starting to realize a dream I'd had for more than 20 years but always been too afraid to try - to live in my rural garden full-time and return to the personal creativity that got lost in my executive years in publishing."

Oblong Books Featured in USA TODAY!
We'd like to give a shout out to Oblong Books this week.
Suzanna Hermans and her dad, Dick Hermans (our neighbors at Hammertown Rhinebeck) were featured in a recent article in USA TODAY entitled: "Is there hope for small bookstores in a digital age?"
Contrary to what we read or hear on the news, independent bookstores are not all doomed dinosaurs in the age of e-books and Kindle.

This Week's Recipe: Chinese Lemon Chicken
After a terrible bout with the flu and a round of trade shows, I didn't think that I could muster up the energy or the appetite to even think about food, let alone cook. But, in looking through some of the new cookbooks we just got in, I was newly inspired! This recipe for Chinese Lemon Chicken from Easy One Pot Meals: Frugal Recipes for Busy Cooks really caught my eye (especially since our next Hammertown Cooking Class is all about One Pot Meals.)
But most important, it is absolutely delicious!
