THIS SUNDAY - "The Boy and the Moon" Reading & (INDOOR) Activities

Too cold to send your little ones out to play?

Join us on Sunday, December 19th from 2-3:30 for a reading and crafts with local author James Christopher.  Jim will be reading from his new book - his first for children, "The Boy and the Moon".  The wonderful illustrations in the book are based on his collages and he will lead a craft activity for kids (4-6) about making collages.

Our Grazing/Book Signing Event - "imperfectly perfect"

Friends and fans came from near and far to meet Liza Donnelly ("When Do They Serve the Wine?") and Mary Randolph Carter ("A Perfectly Kept House is the Sign of a Misspent Life") and to eat the delicious creations of Chef Job Yacubian at our Grazing/Book Signing Event.

The biggest compliment I received for the event came from Carter herself: "It was the most warm and imperfectly perfect signing I've ever taken part in!"

Love Where You Give - The gift of "hope"

When you run a home furnishing store like Hammertown, you spend most of the year focusing on what to buy and how to sell it.  Even though Hammertown is involved with many charities and not-for-profits, at this time of year particularly, our focus changes to not only "love where you live" but to "love where you give" and we'd like to encourage our readers here to do the same.

Meet the Hammertown Barn Family!

Sales Associate, Crystal Vossler with her
gift pick...the Vitamix!
Many of us refer to The Barn as the "Mother Ship" of our Hammertown stores.  It is the original - the place where Joan's first inkling of what Hammertown would someday become was born.

As I did with the managers of the other stores, I sat down with Joan to ask her a few questions about "her" store and some of the people who work in the store and behind the scenes.

Meet them all here...

Our new Jute Bags are Flying Out of the Store!

Everyone is loving our new Hammertown Bags!

Not only do they make great gifts in themselves but they make useful and beautiful "gift bags" -- perfect for putting together an assortment of treasures for your favorite  Hammertown fan.

And remember, you'll get one for free if you spend over $100  in any of our stores!

Joan on CNN & Why Larry King is really leaving now

It could be just a coincidence but the same day Hammertown owner, Joan Osofsky, goes up on CNN's site...Larry King leaves CNN for good.  Hmmm...Was the competition just too much for him?

Get the whole story here...

This Week's Recipe: Cooking for a Crowd? Beef Bourguignon (based on Julia Child's recipe)

This is a real Hammertown favorite -- a wintry holiday meal for a large or small gathering of friends and family.

Rich, flavorful and comforting.  (How can you go wrong
with Julia Child?)

Looking forward to seeing you!
