Eataly: Consumptuous Maximus
Like everything Mario Batali touches, Eataly (the new Italian store/market/restaurant/complex/food mecca in New York City), has become wildly popular. So much so that people are waiting over 30 minutes just to enter the store.
Though described by some as a "retail love letter to Italy" Mario calls it a "temple," and a place where "food is more sacred than commerce." Read more...

Two Autumn Tips from Danielle

Tip No. 2: What You Can Plant Now for a Beautiful End-of-Winter Surprise
It all starts with 2 little bulbs you can plant right now for naturalizing in your lawn: the Snowdrop and the Crocus. Once established these bulbs will be one of the first delights of Spring-carpeting your lawn sometimes even before the snow completely melts

This Week's Recipe: Savory Monkey Bread
Most of the Monkey Bread recipes I remember were sweet and sticky. This one, from my friend Katherine Martucci, is deliciously savory (and easy) using scallions, parsley and dill weed. (You can get creative and use other herbs and salt or even cheese as well.) She got it from Ruth MacPhearson's cookbook "That's' Entertaining"
This Monkey Bread is surprisingly easy (spoiler alert: you use Pillsbury buttermilk biscuits from the grocery store's refrigerator section) and incredibly delicious!
