Hammertown & Berkshire Taconic Benefit: A Fabulous & Fun Evening for All!
And we raised some serious money for the Neighbor to Neighbor Berkshire Taconic Fund. Over $26,000! It seemed like everyone turned up for what is becoming the Harbinger of Autumn Event in our part of Dutchess County. Future Farmers AG FAIR - A wonderful Pine Plains tradition
I have such fond memories of the FFA Ag Fair. It's become an important and historic community event that's so much fun for families and visitors alike. The Ag Fair celebrates the wonderful rural character of our area and always reminds me why I live here and why I love where I live. Michele McCarthy and Mary Orlandi, both part of our Hammertown Barn staff have kids participating this year. Mary's son, Brent (pictured here) is showing his cow, Felice, this year. Joan's Tip for this Week: Dead mouse smell? You need Fresh Wave

Red Devon in the News!
There's a lot going on at Red Devon these days! Red Devon was the recent recipient of the Dutchess County Economic Development Corporation 2010 Business Excellence Award for Agriculture; one of six awards presented which recognize and embrace innovation as a unifying force for our business community. This year's winners of the Business Excellence Awards all demonstrated an innovative and entrepreneurial approach in their pursuit of excellence.
ALSO, in the most recent issue of Valley Table Magazine, Red Devon Executive Chef Sara Lukasiewicz was featured in the cover article "I Can't Believe They're Eating the Whole Thing". Sara is one of several chefs in the area who are part of the "Slow Movement" and believe that every part of a slaughtered animal can and should be used. Read more...
