What I learned at a Shade Garden Workshop with Margaret Roach & Bob Hyland
 I recently attended a shade garden workshop hoping to come away with a few ideas for the shady areas at Hammertown. I came away with so much more!
Margaret Roach and Bob Hyland (of Loomis Creek Nursery) provided great tips and techniques that were not only easy to follow but were demonstrated as well. With all of the gardening wisdom between the two of them, they were able to answer every one's questions and left no stone unturned.

A Hike Up Stissing Mountain - Perfect for a Fall Day
One of our favorite Hammertown Barn customers, David Kamp, stopped by the store the other day before taking his son on a hike up Stissing Mountain. I told him he should take some pictures and send them to us. And wouldn't you know it....he did!
This is really a wonderful hike - the New York Times ran a feature story on Stissing Mountain/Thompson Pond Nature Preserve back in 1991 (Sunday Outing) and again a couple summers ago (Five Hikes in Search of Hudson Valley Views).
