We're starting our count down to Hammertown's 25th Anniversary
Leading up to our big celebration on September 5th, we'll be making EXCLUSIVE OFFERS to you, our email subscribers. All you have to do is know the "Secret Word" which will appear right here every week. We were inspired by Groucho Marx's show "You Bet Your Life" (for those of you who are old enough to remember click here to see a great clip with Jack Benny !) Just tell your sales associate when checking out what the secret word is and you'll get a special gift from us.
This week's word is "Twenty-five" -- for Hammertown's 25th year!! |

Where does Joan get her inspiration? A revealing
Q. & A.
You can't walk through any of our stores without wondering how Joan
does it all and what keeps her inspired to be able to constantly look at
Hammertown with a fresh eye. She is always thinking about ways to make
Hammertown new, interesting and relevant.
We always hope you read our blog to get ideas and be inspired. So, I
wondered what blogs/websites Joan went to for inspiration. More...

Installment #7 of Doodletown Farm:
Accommodating the Present & Planning for the Future
From Bob & Jack: Part of our renovation plans included an 18th C style workshop where
our antiques business "work" could be done. We wanted it to be a separate structure but
close enough to the house so that our winter commutes wouldn't be too
daunting.
We wanted it to look as if it had always been there. We took lots of
pictures of stone structures here and across the river for inspiration. Click here to see how they did it...

Fire at Lia's Mountain View - We're all in this
together
All of us who live locally (and enlightened visitors) love Lia's
Mountain View restaurant. It is part of the fabric of Pine Plains and
has been a part of my life for over 25 years. Last Tuesday night there

doors...during their busiest season. Lia's is part of country life here in Pine Plains and their loss is our
loss. I know I speak for everyone when we tell our friends at Lia's -
we are here to help you in any way possible. Read more...

Too much of a good thing? Night shade vegetables.
Many of our favorites like potatoes, tomatoes, and even peppers are in
the night shade family. There are many more but these are the most
common. During one of Hammertown's cooking classes I learned that these night
shade vegetables - when eaten in excess - can be harmful to some people.
