Trade Secrets is this Weekend!!

For the past ten years, Trade Secrets has brought garden-lovers from around the world to the Litchfield Hills of Connecticut to discover new plants, topiary, and antiques for their gardens.

This year nearly 60 vendors and garden antiques dealers from around the northeast region - including Hammertown Barn who has been participating since the very first Trade Secrets will be at the picturesque LionRock Farm this weekend.

Hammertown Garden Update: Daydreaming in Poison Ivy

While taking loads of weeds and sticks to the compost area, I happen to pass by an area of the property that I would love to clean up and plant.  Since it's visible from the Barn, Main House, Gatehouse, and the road it really should be done.  But, what will grow under those trees?
I walked through the weeds, pine needles, and sticks and I thought to start by clearing these weeds so I could see what I'm dealing with. Did I say WEEDS?  Weeds they were not!
