Hammertown in Elle Decor! You bet we're going to brag about this! Hammertown customers, Diego Uchitel (a fashion photographer) and his
wife, April's (head of sales at Diane von Furstenberg) home is featured
in the May issue of Elle Decor magazine. The centuries- old country
house near Mohonk Lake had to be entirely renovated and they did it
beautifully. When it came time to shop for furnishings - one of the
places they came was Hammertown Rhinebeck.

We're back from High Point...have I got some pictures for you!
"If you make a compromise - selecting something cheaper than what you
really like - it compromises you, because you are never really happy
with the result." Rose Cummings
After 4 days of intense work at High Point Furniture market, I am reading my new issue of House Beautiful
(probably my favorite shelter magazine these days...I always get inspired
from their issues). I see this fabulous quote from Rose Cummings (above). So, it will be my inspiration for this blog on High Point.

A "Modular" Hammertown Home? Really?
Yes...really! I got an email a few weeks ago from Robert Bristow and Pilar Proffitt (Poesis Design) inviting me to come and look at their new modular home project. We all have preconceived notions about modular homes but because the email had come from
these two very talented designers, my curiosity was piqued so I just had to
check it out. I drove over to meet with Rob and Pilar at the
building site. The modular home they have customized is amazing. I
walked away so inspired and had to share it with our readers. Read more... |

This Week's Recipe: Sesame Roasted Asparagus
Yes...asparagus is here. The first harvest of spring!
This recipe is simple but oh...so good. It comes from the White Dog Cafe
in Philadelphia (where my son Gregg worked many years ago). The
restaurant was founded in 1983 by social activist, entrepreneur and
idealist, Judy Wicks (one of the women featured in the book "Farmer Jane" -- see below).

"Farmer Jane" Women Changing the Way We Eat
This inspiring book by Temra Costa is filled with wonderful and
uplifting information about women you may not have even heard of who

have been changing the way America eats and farms for decades. Farmer Jane tells
30 such stories of some exceptional women leaders that are working on
this change by farming, educating, advocating, and/or transforming how
we eat through their food businesses. But it's not just about being a woman. It's about the impact that femininity has in changing businesses for the better. Read more here...
