Favorite Cold and Flu Busters Colds and flu's can happen any time of year, but it seems so much more prevalent during the cold and closed in winter months. Washing your hands and cleaning will help your odds on avoiding the winter bugs, but sometimes they still catch you. Here are a few things you can do to help alleviate the symptoms and help hustle yourself back to health.
- Stuffy nose? A chamomile and mint steam really will open things up for you - and give you a mini facial to boot. You can use any chamomile tea and a dash of fresh or dried mint - or even a few drops of mint extract. Boil a pot of water. Once the water is
boiling, turn it off and add the herbs (if your using mint extract, add that right before use) then cover tightly. Move yourself to a comfortable place with a nice towel. Put the towel over your head and tent it around the pot. Remove the lid and inhale the lovely fumes. It will really help open up your sinuses. - Spray some Mint Ceo Briongloid (Dream Mist) on your pillow before going to sleep, even spritz some in the air to help kill germs and clear your nose.
- Tea is always soothing for colds and flu's. Be prepared to give it an extra boost with a little infused honey. Elecampne and elderberry are the perfect herbs to use for their expectorant and immunity boosting properties. Make a batch ahead of time so your set for the season.... plus they are darn yummy any time!
- Chapped and sore lips need extra protection. Tingles is designed specifically to help lips begin to heal while protecting. And the peppermint scent helps you breath easier.
Cold weather doesn't really cause more colds, but being indoors without fresh air can spread germs more easily. Eat well, get plenty of rest and you'll do just fine.

Hay is for Horses
The majestic, beautiful horse not only holds an important place in the history of the world, but in our hearts. They have been our transportation and steadfast workers as well as our companions on wonderful journeys. I love horse back riding and try to go at least once a year, more if I can find a way to manage it.

This past autumn, with the help of my daughter and her friends (thank you Emma), we discovered a wonderful person who has a horse farm in Blairstown. She also works with abused and abandoned horses. She and the volunteers of this organization work to rehabilitate these beautiful animals. It has been a harsh and treacherous winter, and they find them selves in need of some help with their hay fund.
If you'd prefer you can make a direct donation from the Rivers Edge website. Even a few dollars can help buy hay and pay for other supplies for these darlings.

Celtic Chairde is now Facebook! For each new like on Facebook through the end of March, we'll make an additional donation - $.50 each for the first 25 new Like's, $1.00 each for every like thereafter. |
Hot Happenings in February
I guess you could say that February 1 is the birthday of movies. On February 1, 1893, the Black Maria Studio, built by Thomas Edison, was opened in West Orange, NJ. But that's not all that's special about February.
As children, we all heard the story of George Washington chopping down the cherry tree. Well, in honor of that historic cherry tree, it's National Cherry Month. Cherries are yummy and full of antioxidants, vitamins and more.
Want to learn more about the benefits of cherries? Head on over to the library. There's still something wonderful about rooms and rooms of books. It's Library Lovers Month, so if you haven't been to your local library in a while it might be time to take a visit!
February does tend to be the coldest month of the year. Don't forget to take care of our feathered friends during National Bird-Feeding Month. It will help them get through one tough winter, and you'll find it a fascinating and entertaining way to pass the time. You can pick up a bird guide at the library, sit and enjoy a nice cherry tart!

Enjoying the Winter - Looking forward to Spring
Dear ,
January and February have been months of resting, planning & playing for us. But we're getting back into the swing of things, creating new products and developing new scents. I have to admit, that's one of the really fun parts of the job. And we always welcome suggestions and ideas - so please feel free to send them our way. Enjoy these last few weeks of winter. Spring will come soon enough.
