Ebstein's anomaly occurs when the tricuspid valve fails to develop normally while the baby is in the womb. Many children with Ebstein's anomaly do very well with little or no treatment required. If symptoms of congestive heart failure develop, medications such as digoxin or lasix may be used. In some patients, however, heart surgery is needed.

Are you a wine enthusiast?

wine

Colby Red is a delicious red wine dedicated to raising funds for cardiac research.

This wine is named in honor of Colby Rex Groom, son of Winemaker Daryl Groom and his wife Lisa, who was born with an Atrial Septal Defect, or "hole," in his heart. After two open-heart surgeries to repair a defective heart valve, Colby now has a St. Jude Medical valve, and is living a healthy and happy life. This wine represents the Groom family's efforts to use their passion for winemaking and viticulture to give back for the help and support Colby received.

HELP US HELP OTHERS....

There are many happenings within our community. If you know of an upcoming event or fundraiser, please contact us with any information about the event. We also ask that you update us if your home address, e-mail or phone number has changed so that we may keep you informed of upcoming events.

HOH is on Facebook!

We have a discussion board on facebook. Go to the Hearts of Hope group page and begin posting or responding to topics on the discussion board. We want to use this service to help network parents. This is a wonderful way to get and sta connected with other heart families.

Lastly, you are invited to share your child's story on our website which provides "hope" to new families beginning their heart journey. If you would like to help us offer this "hope" or if you have an existing CarePage set up and would like to share your child's CarePage, please e-mail us with your CarePage name or bio and photo to storiesofhope@heartsofhopemi.org

We appreciate your support. Together we will make a difference in the lives of those affected by congenital heart defects.

Sincerely,

Hearts of Hope S.E. Michigan
