HLHS
Hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) is a serious problem that involves several parts of the left side of the heart. It is quite rare and occurs in about 1 out of every five thousand babies born. In the United States, about 1000 babies with HLHS are born each year.

HEART DEFECT AWARENESS

EEK INTENDS TO GIVE VALENTINE'S WEEK A NEW TAKE ON LOVE AND LIFE!

An international coalition of families, individuals, non-profit organizations, support groups, and health professionals participate in a campaign to increase public awareness of Congenital Heart Defects and Childhood Heart Disease.

To recognize February 7th - 14th as CHD Awareness Week in Michigan, a state proclamation has been signed by Governor Jennifer Granholm.

THIS PROCLAMATION WILL BE DISPLAYED AT OUR FEBRUARY 9TH EVENT!!

We invite all families affected by congenital heart defects and the professionals who work with them. Our afternoon will be filled with activities, music, magicians, clowns, games, and a special surprise guest appearance by a much loved character. Lunch and beverages will be provided. This is a terrific opportunity to meet other families, share stories, offer support, spread hope and create friendships that will last a lifetime.

**Hearts of Hope will be collecting donations for our care packages to be sent to children in the hospital. We will also be collecting any used ink cartridges so we can help fight the battle against Protein Losing Enteropathy.**

What is Community
Daycoupon book?
Community Day is an annual fundraising event designed to
provide 501c3 nonprofit organizations with a fun and easy way to raise money.

When is it?
Community Day takes place on Saturday, March 1st from 7am - 10pm at a family of stores:
Bon-Ton, Elder-Beerman, Bergner's, Boston Store, Carson's, Herberger's, Younkers, and Parisian.

**Hearts of Hope will be at the new Parisian in Partridge Creek on Friday, February 29th from 6pm-8pm selling tickets.**
**We will also having a pre-sale at our February 9th event.**


How does it work?
Hearts of Hope is selling coupon booklets to the public for $5 each, keeping 100% of the proceeds! Each booklet contains coupons valid during the Community Day One Day Sale on March 1st.

What w
ill customers receive in each booklet?
 With each $5 coupon booklet purchase, customers receive:
~One $10 coupon, good toward any item of $10 or more (exclusions apply)
~Eight additional coupons, each good for up to 20% off one item (exclusions apply)-in addition to the special One Day Sale prices.

How do we get booklets?
Please
contact us if you would like to buy or sell booklets prior to the One Communtiy Day Sale or if you are interested in setting up a Hearts of Hope table at one of the participating stores!!

Where do we sell booklets?
You can sell booklets on your own, and in stores before and during the event. Please contact us if you are interested in setting up a Hearts of Hope table at one of your local partcipating stores!!

There is NO minimum number of booklets to sell?

There are many events happening within our community. If you know of an upcoming event, please contact us with any information about the event. Lastly, you are invited to share your child's story on our website which provides "hope" to new families beginning their heart journey. If you would like to help us offer this "hope" or if you have an existing CarePage set up and would like to share your child's CarePage, please e-mail us with your CarePage name or bio and photo to storiesofhope@heartsofhopemi.org .
