Greetings from Camp El Tesoro!
We had a great Spring Break Camp last week! We had beautiful weather, happy campers and a lot of dirt to wash off at the end of the day! I sure am glad we had the spring weather before it turned to winter again! That was crazy!
During your search for the perfect summer camp for your child, I'm sure there were many questions that went through your mind. Will my child have fun? Will my child be safe? What if they get homesick? How do they hire the staff? How will the staff handle difficult situations?
After choosing El Tesoro, hopefully all those questions were answered with confidence and helped put you at ease. One of the many reasons that El Tesoro is able to provide your child with all the opportunities for growth and knowledge is that we are accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA).
As a leading authority in youth development, ACA works to preserve, promote, and improve the camp experience by establishing the guidelines for needed policies, procedures and practices. Being accredited means we must meet up to 300 standards that are related to health, safety and program quality - 300!
El Tesoro has been accredited by ACA for over 60 years! Our affilation is something I care about and am committed to. Serving as the Vice President on the board of ACA Texoma, it is very important to me that parents understand the quality of care we are providing for each camper.
I believe that every child must experience summer camp! Please share with others your child's experience at El Tesoro! We don't want another child to miss this opportunity! See you at camp!

Reserve Your FREE Seat for El Tesoro de la Vida Dinner by Friday
Join volunteers and staff of El Tesoro de la Vida on March 30 at 6:30 p.m. for the annual El Tesoro de la Vida Benefit Dinner. We are extending the RSVP date to Friday, March 26, just for you!
The 2010 El Tesoro de la Vida Benefit Dinner directly supports our week long grief camp. El Tesoro de la Vida provides an accepting, normalizing camp experience where children, ages 6 - 17, who share the experience of the death of a loved one, can cry, play, laugh and spend time with one another.
The event is an enjoyable evening with great food, provided by Ultimate Cuisine by Chef Tom, and a wonderful program that will leave you moved and even more passionate about the great work done for the children at El Tesoro de la Vida.
As the cost of the dinner has been graciously underwritten, we kindly ask that you consider making a special donation to our Camp Scholarship Fund to send children to grief camp.
Reserve your seat today! Email Lydia Tovar at LydiaT@CampFireFW.org.
Download the registration form.
The event is held at First United Methodist Church in Fort Worth.

El Tesoro Hosts First Home School Open House
On March 21, Camp Fire USA First Texas Council's Outdoor Education department braved the spring snow and hosted the first Home School Open House at El Tesoro. The open house was an opportunity for families who home school to become familiar with the outdoor curriculum developed, how the environment at El Tesoro compliments the hands-on learning process of the curriculum and to gear up for the April 24 Home School Adventure Day.
The belief that all persons need a connection with the natural world is fundamental to the Camp Fire mission, core values, and programs. We believe in the power of nature to awaken our senses, curiosity and desire to learn.
If you would like to learn more about the Outdoor Education curriculum and how you can apply it to you or your child's classroom learning, call 817-831-2111, ext. 105. |
