Health Care Professionals Increase Involvement to Improve Quality Child Care |
In 2005, the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) revised its process and standards for "accrediting" center-based child care programs. It included new health-related standards and criteria for programs.
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) coordinated the 6-month pilot program to support programs in learning how to achieve the health-related criteria. Increasing Health Professional Involvement in Child Care Programs to Improve Quality Care and Outcomes for Children to offer pediatric health professional consultation services to child care centers. Visit the project's Web page for tips and resources that may help other early education and child care professionals and health care professionals engage in similar partnerships. DARS Seeks Input About ECI Program at Public Meetings |
On January 25 and January 27, 2010 from 4 - 7 p.m. the Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services Division for Early Childhood Intervention (DARS ECI) will host public forums to learn from parents and other stakeholders:
- Which ECI services are most important to you?
- What are the strengths and challenges of ECI that affect the quality of the program?
- What other services (not offered by ECI) provide added support for families?
- What changes would you make to the ECI system for the future?
- If not all children could be served with available resources, which children would be prioritized to receive ECI services?
- Do you have any other comments about ECI, in general?
DARS ECI is a statewide program for families with children, birth to three, with disabilities and developmental delays. ECI supports families to help their children have the resources they need to reach their goals. This program is serving more children and families with limited resources and is using this input from stakeholders how to best use the limited resources available to provide the most needed resources to children and families. Parents, doctors, community providers, referral sources, and other interested parties are welcome.
