Voice Your Opinion on Licensing Minimum Standards

The Department of Family and Protective ServicesDFPS Child Care Licensing is conducting an evaluation of the current minimum standards. Your input is requested and valued. Responses will be accepted through July 31.
 
Be specific and include the standard number and suggested language for revisions.  Example: Rather than stating that the child-to-caregiver ratios need to be changed, please state what you think the child-to-caregiver ratios should be.

Apply now for Child Development Associate scholarships
  
Camp Fire USA is now accepting applications for four Child Development Associate (CDA) scholarships. The CDA program provides 120 hours of training which prepares candidates for the CDA Assessment. Completed and signed applications must be received by 5pm on July 31, 2009.

Free Food Program available to Family Child Care Providers
 
Camp Fire USA announces Tarrant County open Trainingenrollment for the U.S. Department of Agriculture food program. The program provides money to registered or licensed Family Child Care Providers for healthy meals and snacks served to children in their care. Program participants also receive free nutrition training, a monthly newsletter and one-on-one assistance with meal planning and other child care issues.

Grief Camp Now Accepting Applicatons
 
Having funCamp Fire USA is now accepting applications for El Tesoro de la Vida Grief Camp for August 2-8, 2009. For more than 20 years, El Tesoro de la Vida overnight grief camp has been helping children age 6-16 who have experienced the death of a loved one.
 
The week-long program incorporates activities which help children through the natural grieving process, combined with traditional camp activities. Professional therapists lead daily group sessions that allow children to share their experiences with others like themselves.
 
The program fee is $475. Camp scholarships are available for children with financial needs. Early application is encouraged as space is limited. El Tesoro de la Vida is held at Camp Fire USA's Camp El Tesoro in Granbury.
