Thank you for Helping us Serve! | | Thousands of People Received Help in 2010
Thanks to YOU, our generous donors--churches, businesses, schools, organizations and individuals--HCCM was able to assist thousands of people in need in 2010. This great accomplishment, in the face of mounting economic challenges and the increased need for services, was due to the faithful support of our community. Here's How We Helped Because You Helped . . . - 4,049 food orders were filled for families in need
- 2,028 family clothing vouchers were filled
- 789 vouchers were provided for financial assistance
- 215 children received new shoes
- 408 coats were distributed
- 74 blankets were distributed
Volunteers Help Us Make it Happen! Volunteers provided 9,000 hours of volunteer service during 2010. More than 80 volunteers help keep day-to-day operations running smoothly by filling 28 different shifts each week in the food pantry, clothes closet and caseworker positions, and by making daily trips to area H.E.B. and Randalls food stores to pick up donated baked goods. In addition, numerous church, business, youth and other groups donate hundreds of hours of volunteer time for special projects to improve and maintain our facilities, sort food and stock shelves, and much, much more! Thank you, volunteers, for all you do to make a difference in the lives of families in need. |
| Bright Lights for a Brighter Future | | | Rhodes Family Lights Up Neighborhood for HCCM
Often the question is asked, "How much can only one person do?" Well, if you're Frank Rhodes, the answer will amaze you!
For five years now, Frank has created a Christmas wonderland of lights at his home in the Cypress Creek subdivision in Cedar Park. His light display is one of a handful in the area that are featured each year, along with a location map, in our local newspapers. People come from all around our community to see Frank's beautiful display. But as great as the light display is, there's much more to this story.
Frank has used this attraction each year to collect food and raise funds for Hill Country Community Ministries. He places a bin in front of his home for people to drop off nonperishable food items, and his daughter can be seen outside from time to time, wearing a Santa hat, greeting people who stop to see the display, and collecting monetary donations for HCCM.

In 2006, the Rhodes family collected $800 and the donations have grown steadily each year to $3,025 in 2010. In all, the Rhodes family has collected a whopping $11,225 and thousands of pounds of food to help HCCM assist families in need.
Frank is shy about his contribution and a little reluctant to take much credit. He realizes the results come from a generous community and he maintains that all he does is give them an opportunity to enjoy the Christmas spirit through his light display and share the Christmas spirit by giving to others in need.
To Frank and his family, thank you for your generosity, your heart for others, and for putting your community spirit into action!

| Grocery Bags Urgently Needed! | | | HCCM Food Pantry Needs Grocery Bags
The Food Pantry is experiencing a shortage of plastic grocery bags. We use the bags to pack client food orders. If you can recycle your plastic grocery bags with us, we and our clients will appreciate it! Thank you. |
