National Volunteer Week
April 18-24
Celebrating People in Action!
This is National Volunteer Week and we can never say "thank you" enough to our volunteers for all they do to help us assist families in crisis.

Every volunteer counts--from picking up donated baked goods to interviewing clients, filling client food orders, providing administrative assistance, stocking food pantry shelves, helping clients select clothing, unloading food donation deliveries, making repairs and performing maintenance around the facility, sorting and stocking clothing donations, driving the big truck to pick up and deliver food, and much, much more!  God blesses us through our dedicated volunteers and we value their contribution.  Volunteers are truly the heartbeat of HCCM!

Volunteer Appreciation Dinner
To celebrate our volunteers and show our appreciation, HCCM is planning a volunteer appreciation dinner in September.  More information will be provided as time for the event draws near.

Thank you to all our volunteers!

Doors Galore!
The Home Depot Donates New Doors
Thanks to the good folks at The Home Depot, HCCM has some much-needed, brand new exterior doors for our office, Food Pantry and Clothes Closet.  Our old doors were in sad shape and as our building settled over time, the doors no longer sealed or fit properly.

Not only did The Home Depot donate the five new doors, they donated the materials and provided a great volunteer crew to perform the work.  Store Manager Mike Reichert at the 7900 FM 620 N. store coordinated the effort and recruited volunteers from several other area stores.  The Home Depot volunteers used their day off to rebuild all the door frames, facings and thresholds and install the doors.

We are grateful to our friends at The Home Depot for helping us with this project.  Their generosity, hard work and community spirit help us make a difference in the lives of the families we serve.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Food Pantry Shortage
We Need Your Help!

Peter Horn, Pastor, HCBC Leander delivering  food

Board Members 2009.2010
We continue to face a critical shortage of food in our Food Pantry.  To those who have donated food in the past few weeks, we are so very grateful!  We have received several generous donations from churches and groups, but we're not able to keep up with the need.

If your church, business, school or group would like to help, please use these links for information on how to schedule and organize a food drive and a food list of items most needed in the Food Pantry.  This information is also available on our
Web site at www.hccm.org.
Facilities Projects
Small Group Volunteer Opportunities
If your church group, club or organization is looking for an opportunity to help with some much needed projects around HCCM, we've got a few for you to consider.  These are weekend or after-hours projects and we could really use your help!

Pete Testone, mowing, mowing, mowing!

Pete Testone Mowing 2010
Grounds Maintenance

Our property needs mowing at least once every two weeks during the growing season, depending on rainfall.  Pete Testone, a volunteer from The Church at Canyon Creek, has faithfully performed this task for several years now and he needs some help.  We would like to have several groups of two to three volunteers to take turns with the mowing and trimming chores.

Carpet Tile Installation
Thanks to a generous donation of 600 carpet tiles from Endeavor Real Estate Group, we can finally replace all the worn-out carpet in our offices!  What we need now is a team of volunteers who are professionals and experienced in laying carpet tiles and willing to help us with this special project.

Porches & Dock Painting/Repairs
Our porches and dock need to be repainted, and some repairs made.  We need a small team of people who are good with paint brushes, hammers and saws to tackle this project.

If you are able to put a team together to help with any of these special projects and/or donate supplies, please contact Volunteer Coordinator Traceyanne Ramsey at traceyanne.ramsey@hccm.org
