FCBC Update
February 26,  2010
Your weekly connection to Fairfax Circle Baptist Church
  A Note from David...

I want to point out some different opportunities to be involved at FCBC this week and next.  You'll find more detailed info about these opportunities in this, and past Updates.

First, let me encourage everyone to come to the Pie Social this Saturday night.  Not only is this a chance to eat some really great food but it will be a chance to get to know some really great folks.  Our church has been in a growth cycle since early December, so chances are there will be someone there that you don't already know.

Second, if you have not signed up for CLASS 101, it's not too late.  CLASS 101 will be this Sunday from 4pm to 6pm.   If you're new to FCBC, this is a class that was designed with you in mind.  Our goal is to answer as many of your questions about our church as possible.  If you've been around for a while, or have even taken 101 before, let me encourage you to check it out again.  I'm sure you will learn something new and your insight into our church will be helpful to our newest folks.

Third, be a part of Hypothermia Relief Week.  You can signup online or contact a team member.  We have two things happening next week for HRW.  On Monday we will have an orientation to the program.  Everyone participating in HRW is encouraged to attend.  Also, next Saturday, March 6 we will be having a Work Day at the church to prepare the facilities for HRW.  There is something for everyone to do.

I hope you can plug into some of these opportunities.

See you Sunday.

David

P.S.  We launch a new, three week series this week called A Day With God.  24 fans should particularly enjoy it.

Hypothermia Relief Week

This week we'd like to ask you to pray intentionally for our service in Hypothermia Relief starting next Sunday, March 7.  We have prepared a Prayer Calendar for you which you'll find in your bulletins on Sunday and which is available in the lobby.  Also, in your bulletins, you will find a card with a reproduction of the first week of the Prayer Calendar and a little word game you can play every day as you pray for HRW this week.  Just peel away the flap each day to uncover a mystery letter underneath.  At the end of the week, you will need to unscramble the letters to discover the secret message which will be disclosed next week.  The Bible verse on the other side of the card provides a clue.  Have fun with it!

Work Day - In preparation for HRW, we have also scheduled a work day for next Saturday, March 6 from 10am-1pm.

We need to make sure the kitchen and sleeping areas are clean and ready for our guests as well as set up the donation and registration areas.  There are also some general maintenance issues we need to address in the building and on the grounds as the winter weather winds down.  All ready and willing hands are welcome!

Our mission is to develop devoted followers of Christ, connected in a unique community, with a passion for serving others.

We value...

...bringing people to Christ by overcoming obstacles and loving them as they are
...actively nurturing spiritual growth
...recognizing that every person is important and has a role to play
...serving the church, local community, and beyond
...strengthening families and developing the next  generation
Pie Social
Remember this Saturday, February 27, at 6pm we are having our 2nd Annual All Church Pie Social.  Bring a dinner or desert pie to share - it can be a pizza pie, chicken pot pie, chocolate pie, pecan pie to name a few.  We will eat pie, play games, and have some entertainment.  This is a great chance to meet   and get to know new people as well as to fellowship with old and new friends.  All ages are welcome.  There will be information available about small groups and the different ministry groups we have here at FCBC and an opportunity to connect to one of those groups if you wish.  Hope to see you there!!
Class 101
Just a reminder that Class 101 will be meeting Sunday from 4-6pm in the blue room.  If you are new to FCBC, or if you've been around for a while, we'd love for you to attend this introductin to the Fairfax Circle Baptist Church family.  This class is designed to clearly explain who and what our church is.  It's not too late to sign up.  If you would like to attend, just let us know on the blue card in your bulletin on Sunday or contact Pastor David.
