A Note from David... |
I want to say thank you to everyone who made Pastor Charles' visit a great one. He truly enjoyed meeting everyone and being introduced to our church family and was impressed by the warmth and hospitality of our church. Special thanks to Max and Carolyn Inman for hosting him at their home while he was here and to the small group who hosted Sunday's lunch.
I'd also like to take the opportunity to remind everyone that this Sunday we will be having CLASS 201. I want to invite anyone who has not been through this class to attend. Usually we ask people to go through CLASS 101 first, but since we were not able to have 101 last month we are making an exception. Please email me at david@fairfaxcirclechurch.org if you want more info or would like to attend this Sunday.

As our earlier Update explained, based on our meeting last week, the team working on forming a non-profit organization here at FCBC would like to communicate a few things to everyone. First of all, here is the mission statement we have agreed upon:
"Our mission is to serve people in need around the world by providing physical, emotional, social and/or spiritual support appropriate to their culture and circumstances. We provide this support through targeted projects and partnerships with like-minded organizations."
Second, we need your help in coming up with a name for the organization. We'd like to tap into all of your creative minds and come up with a name that inspires people to help. Remember, this non profit will be used to raise funds for "the least of these" both at home and abroad. We will be collecting ideas through tomorrow evening, so if you have ideas, please submit them on the blue sheet in the bulletin today or email your ideas to cathy@fairfaxcirclechurch.org .
Finally, if you are interested in serving on the initial board of directors for this non-profit, please contact Regina Millard, Max Inman, or Ed Sale. A draft of the by-laws is available on the website. If you are interested, please take the time to read through them and look at the qualifications that will be considered for membership on the board. Also, all potential board members will be asked to undergo a background check prior to serving on the board similar to the ones we use for our FCBC child care workers.

Those errors have been corrected and revised reports have been mailed. Please check your report carefully, especially for the month of February 2009, and contact Cleosa by phone (703)591-5967 or email if you have any questions so she can make any necessary corrections. |

Class 301: Discovering My SHAPE For Ministry |

CLASS 301 is scheduled for February 21st and 28th, from 4pm - 6pm. In this CLASS we take an in-depth look at how each of us has been shaped for ministry. Each participant will be given the tools to help them discover their spiritual gifts, their heart for ministry, their natural abilities, to understand their personality better, and how to use their experiences for ministry. If you've completed CLASS 201, then consider 301 as your next step in spiritual formation. There is a small materials cost for the class and childcare is provided. Please use the blue card in today's bulletin to sign up and to indicate your childcare needs. Space is limited so sign up soon. |
