The start-up team for the non-profit organization being incorporated to help fund special ministry projects met again on Sunday afternoon, January 24th. At that meeting, we decided to communicate to the church the status of this project and to solicit your help. First of all, here is the mission statement we have agreed upon:
"Our mission is to serve people in need around the world by providing physical, emotional, social and/or spiritual support appropriate to their culture and circumstances. We provide this support through targeted projects and partnerships with like-minded organizations."
Second, we need your help in coming up with a name for the organization. We'd like to tap into all of your creative minds and come up with a name that inspires people to help. Remember, this non profit will be used to raise funds for "the least of these" both at home and abroad. We will collect ideas from today until Monday, February 1st (that's next Monday). You can email your ideas to cathy@fairfaxcirclechurch.org or submit them on the blue sheet in the bulletin on Sunday. Some examples of suggestions so far: Shared Plenty, Heart and Hand, Beautiful Feet, The Light, Shared Abundance (taken). Even if you just have a word that hits a chord with you, send it in as we may combine several ideas for the final name. Let the naming begin!
Finally, if you are interested in serving on the initial board of directors for this non-profit, please contact Regina Millard, Max Inman, or Ed Sale. A draft of the by-laws is available on the website. Click here to access them and read the qualifications
that will be considered for membership on the board. Also, all potential board members will be asked to undergo a background check prior to serving on the board similar to the ones we use for our FCBC child care workers.
