Friend
We are approaching what I have been referring to as "the window" (of opportunity), the best period in the first half (or more) of 2012. Approaching this year, as I viewed it as a whole, I noticed that most of the first half of the year was tainted by retrogrades of the quicker planets. (It is easy to see the year's retrogrades at a glance (as well as the New and Full Moon dates, signs and degrees) on this free PDF download 2012 On a Page). Though the year started with a rare few weeks "in the clear" (no retrogrades whatsoever), then we launched into a long Mars retrograde (Jan. 23 to April 13) during which Mercury was retrograde March 12 to April 4. Then, after a gap, Venus will be retrograde from May 15 to June 27.
Once we get a couple days past the New Moon on April 21 [12:18 am (P), 3:18 am (E)], the light turns green for full steam ahead. Maximum progress is possible and the time is ripe to launch new ventures while the Moon waxes, up until the Full Moon on May 5 [5:35 pm (P), 8:35 pm (E)]. That is far enough ahead of Venus turning retrograde on May 15 (until June 27) that you won't be adversely affected by the apparent stoppage (called a "station") for a few days on either side of that planet changing direction.
The other condition leading up to the light turning green has to do with the "shadow" of the Mercury Retrograde just concluded. Mercury entered Aries March 2. Once it was retrograde, it backtracked into Pisces on March 23. It re-enters Aries April 16. That sounds like it's ready to speed ahead, doesn't it? But the real signal for a successful beginning comes April 23, when Mercury moves ahead of its turn-around degree, into fresh territory. That's when you can get past the thorns it put in your path during its retrograde and it will be easier to get something new going.
We're only a week away from this important opening so make your plans now for what you want to accomplish during this period. For guidance in making the most of astrology's influences as they affect your chart, contact me to schedule a personal reading.

Earth Day April 22
|

Love Your Mother
The gorgeous spring is always a time to thank our beautiful planet for all the bounty it offers us. This year, Earth Day is at the doorway of our positive astrological window, so how about showing your appreciation with a donation to your favorite environmental non-profit group? Gratitude and generosity circle the good karma back around in your direction! You might like to take Huffington Post's "eco challenge" over the next week, described in their article 7 Eco-Friendly Tips, with ideas like "Meatless Monday." Or you can learn to be more eco-conscious when dining out with advice from this article: How To Eat Green.
Earth Day is always April 22, by which time the Sun has entered or is entering the earth sign Taurus, ruled by Venus, the planet of love and attraction as well as the planet associated with what we value. During Taurus time this spring, the Sun travels close to the dwarf planet Ceres, which entered Taurus on April 9. Ceres (same root word as cereal) is named for the goddess of fertility and harvest. Connections it makes to the other planets are often related to developments affecting Mother Earth, so look for important news about the earth or possibly about the food supply around Thursday, April 26, when the Sun passes Ceres.

How was your Friday the 13th?
|
|
|
I'm not one to believe superstitions about the number 13 so this isn't a day that bothers me. In fact, I've always liked Friday the 13th. I was sad when an awful scary movie had that as its name. My Friday the 13th began the day before, when a long-time client/friend called to tell me April 13 would be a "Triple Dragon Day." I had never heard of such a thing. This means that in the in the Year of the Dragon, there is a Dragon month (analogous to the Aries sun-sign time frame) and two days during that period that are Dragon Days from the 12-animal rotation. The other was April 1, 2012. Here's a great resource I enjoyed reading about Dragons. Since I was born in the Year of the Dragon, I was really excited to learn about triple Dragon days.
A little while later, the phone rang again. It was Joyce Barrie from New York. She has an online radio show on blogtalkradio. I was a guest last Friday the 13th in January 2012, and would I do it again this time around? I said yes without hesitation. Again my fellow guest was numerologist Lois T. Martin. (And we will be on her show a third time on Friday the 13th of July.) You can click on the link at the top right of my home page to listen online any time.
On the show, Lois mentioned how the number thirteen is revered in many circles. America, which began as 13 colonies with 13 stars and stripes on its flag, should love this number. After hearing our show, maybe you'll have a new appreciation for thirteen, a number sacred to Venus-worshippers, including the Mayans. The most Fridays on the 13th that any year can have is three, and such is the case in 2012.
