Moon cycles are 29 to 30 days in length, while our calendar months are 28 to 31 days. Therefore, from time to time, in the same calendar month we will have two New Moons or two Full Moons (the second one being commonly called a "Blue Moon"). It also happens that there can be two successive New or Full Moons in a single 30-degree sign.

The Moon is exactly Full today at 3:26 am (PDT)/6:26 am (EDT) at 0 degrees of Scorpio. Next month, on May 19, the next Full Moon is also in Scorpio, at 29 degrees. Most years we have just one Scorpio Full Moon, and with the intensity of this sign, one usually seems like quite enough!

It's Taurus Sun Sign Time

Spring Takes Root

A season settles into its strongest expression during the middle of the three signs that comprise it. The first sign gets the season rolling, the third winds it down, but that middle sign sees the high point The middle of the middle sign is the exact middle of the season, its climax halfway between a solstice and an equinox.

Spring began in Aries a month ago and ends after Gemini in two months. The Sun entered Taurus on April 19th and over the coming month, it moves through this middle sign of spring. It gets nice and warm but not as hot as summer. Flowers blossom everywhere and leaves pop out on the trees. Crops shoot up from seeds to seedlings.

What are you trying to grow in the garden of your life? What activities or qualities do you want to solidify or deepen this month? To make progress, what might you need to jettison? Setting priorities is easier when you have a handle on your values, and values are a main focus of Taurus. Burning through roadblocks is Scorpio's business.

The Taurus - Scorpio Polarity

Entrenchment versus Release

A Full Moon occurs when the Moon goes through the sign exactly across from where the Sun appears to be traveling. Scorpio is the sign opposite Taurus, and embodies opposite qualities. While Taurus preserves the status quo, Scorpio transforms and brings about change. Taurus holds on, Scorpio lets go. The Scorpio Full Moon with the Sun in Taurus shakes us our stability or lifts us up out of a rut. By discarding whatever is outworn, we become better grounded and can more easily stick to whatever is most important.

Each month when the Moon moves through Scorpio for 2 to 3 days, it's a good time to do some purging or clearing. Clean out closets, the basement, the garage or the attic. Take a mental or emotional inventory to see what might be holding you back. Sever ties with anyone who has become an albatross. When the Scorpio Moon is also a Full Moon, such activities are at a peak.

Differences between the 2 Scorpio Full Moons

The April 20th Scorpio Full Moon is part of a strong and usually favorable pattern called a Grand Trine Kite. This shows opportunities It's smart to take time now to make detailed long-range plans or budgets or to assess the most important features of systems that need renovating. Because the Sun is teamed up with Mercury, communication or thought processes now are highlighted.

At the May 19 Full Moon in Scorpio, the strongest pattern is a difficult type called the Grand Cross or Grand Square. It amplifies the polarity between Taurus and Scorpio and brings a lot of tension, but of the kind that can turn us in a better direction as long as we don't get trapped in the past. The Sun is teamed up with Venus, so we realize the importance of our contacts, resources and relationships.

Taurus's ruling planet, Venus, is in Aries at the April 20th Full Moon . By the May 19th Full Moon, it has moved into Taurus. This shifts us from impatience to endurance, from a proclivity to get things rolling to a preference for furthering what is already in motion. Make good use of these 2 Scorpio Full Moons to get your spring cleaning done, whether it's symbolic or literal.
