The Waning Days of the Year Earthquakes, Hurricanes, Three consecutive school days off for extreme cold, record-breaking heat, arabs shaking off dictator- ships to plunge the Middle East into more unsure footing... Our yeshivahs are growing, our shules are thriving, the acts of chesed that have moved to the fore are taking central attention. We have so much more to do, we have so much to be thankful for. There are so many in need, and so many who have given and give. We are a community...made up of extraordinary individuals. I have so much to tell you, yet the words elude me. I ask you, each one of you, who I know, and who I don't, to forgive me if I wrote, said, did, didn't write, say or do something that offended you. I hope you write me and give me an opportunity to ask for individual forgivemess. To advance as a community, we each have to look into ourselves to ask whether we have done, are doing the best we can. Towards that end, for this year, I propose that the year Taf Shin Ayin Bet be explicated as follows: Taf for Torah Shin for 6 section of mishnah= Oral Law Ayin = To see, to objectively search and seek Bet =2, The first letter of the Torah, partnership between man and G-d and man/man, this world and the world to come, spirituality and materialism. Tihiyeh Shnat Iyun B': Tanach=Torah, Prophets and Writiings Tefilah= Prayer Teshuvah= Repentance Tzedakah= Charity, but perhaps most of all B'atzmeinu= into ourselves, a real look at how we can improve ourselves, our middot, our family and our community. A look into ourselves not only for improvements, but to give proper shevach/praise and hodaah/thanks to HKBH/G-d shehecheyanu v'kiyimanu v'higianu lazman hazeh/ that He kept us and safeguarded us so we could reach this time in our lives. To you our dear friends, Doron and I and our family wish you a gut gezunt gebensched year/ happy and healthy new year, G-d should grant us the wisdom to see all the blessings He showers upon us daily, and everything you ask for, G-d should grant ONLY FOR THE GOOD.
