Strongest Start Novel Competition 2012
Put your first three chapters to the test!
Greetings!

Have you heard of TheNextBigWriter's Strongest Start Novel Competition?

For the past few years we've sent out a notification for this contest, and every year we receive wonderful feedback from WOW! subscribers. Everything from "My experience has been overwhelmingly positive" to "The feedback was invaluable." One writer e-mailed to say that although she didn't win the contest (she was a finalist), her entry received hundreds of reviews--some so insightful that they changed the manuscript's direction and helped make it publishable. Nancy DeMarco's book Finding Sara was published by Briona Glen Publishing in March 2012, and she believes it would never have happened without TheNextBigWriter site and the contest.

We LOVE to hear success stories like this, as well as the positive feedback. It lets us know we're choosing partners that are a good fit for WOW! subscribers.

So we're thrilled to announce a competition for novelists and novels-in-progress! The Strongest Start Novel Competition is for writers who want to put their first three chapters to the test.

If you've been working on a novel, or have one written already, polish your first three chapters and consider entering this competition. TheNextBigWriter is an online workshop. By entering, you receive feedback on every chapter you submit. This is a great opportunity to have your work-in-progress reviewed, and you may even win! You do NOT need to have completed your entire novel, so this competition is open to those who have started or are working on their novels. There is NO ENTRY FEE, but membership is required.

We hope you enjoy this wonderful contest, and we wish you the best of luck!

Keep Us Reading

We know that writing a compelling start isn't easy. So, for the sixth year we've put together a motivational competition to help you hone your first three chapters to perfection (if you haven't already). We're looking for opening chapters that will create a burning need to find out what happens, how the characters turn out, how the novel resolves itself. The kind of start that gets an agent to call back, a publisher to show interest, and a reader to plunk down their hard earned money. Above all, give us three opening chapters that will keep us reading.

Submission deadline: June 22, 2012

Before joining the agency, Mumm taught English and creative writing to international students at colleges in the U.S., France, and China.

An avid reader and former English major, he appreciates good writing in both fiction and nonfiction. He lives in central New Jersey, where he practices law in a boutique business law firm.

Lydia Kelley Lydia Kelly is an avid reader who tried her hand at writing in a creative attempt to relieve the mundane life of her 9-5 job. Her first novel, Screaming in the Silence, was published by WorldMaker Media in 2010 and climbed to Amazon.com's top 1,000 list. Her next novel, A Harper's Education, which will be published later this year, received over 100,000 reads online and nearly 2,000 comments.
