Come and join the fun! Meet Therese and visit her fabulous blog hostesses.

Dear ,

Fiction writers and novel lovers, you're in for a treat! We're thrilled to announce the launch of Therese Walsh's Blog Tour with WOW! Women On Writing. Stop by The Muffin today and comment for a chance to win a signed copy of Therese's book, The Last Will of Moira Leahy. She will be checking in to answer your questions, so be sure to take advantage of the opportunity. Therese shares some fabulous tips and stories about novel revision, so be sure to stop by!

Therese Signing BooksPhoto (right): Therese at her first book signing. On her blog, she writes, "Maybe it's because I'm an introvert at heart, but after my first book signing event on Tuesday night, I thought I'd sleep for a week. I've rarely been that tired outside of an illness!" Therese had about a hundred people at her first signing, plus an interview with a local TV station--no wonder she was so tired!

Writing a novel is never easy--especially your first. Therese Walsh's debut novel, The Last Will of Moira Leahy, was a labor of love and seven years in the making. It started out as something completely different--a traditional love story/romance that, through many rewrites over the years, evolved into women's fiction. She shares that incredible journey of process and craft today at The Muffin. If you're working on a novel and are in the midst of revision, Therese's story is bound to inspire you. It's a reminder to never give up, to let the story evolve in its own way, and to embrace the ups and downs of the process.

Family Relationships Blog Day: When Therese's novel was officially published last week (October 13, 2009) bloggers all around the blogosphere celebrated by participating in a mass blogging event on family relationships. In case you missed it, check out this post for a list of all the participating blogs. Therese shared a heartwarming story about her sister too. It was a spectacular day of sharing. I was so impressed by everyone's stories! We held random drawings for prizes and chose several winners. If you participated, be sure to check out this post to see if you won a prize. Thank you all for being a part of this fabulous event.

Now, let's kick off Therese's official blog tour! There are many giveaways on this tour so be sure to check out the dates below.

Also, if you have a blog, make sure you check out our upcoming author tours by scrolling to down to the section ("Want to host one of our upcoming authors?") below. We added two new author tours that are scheduled to launch before the end of the year. Get involved, and have fun! (Please note: Therese's tour is full.)

The Last Will of Moira Leahy
Title
The Last Will Of Moira Leahy
The Last Will of Moira Leahy
A novel

by Therese Walsh

A LOST SHADOW
Moira Leahy struggled growing up in her prodigious twin's shadow; Maeve was always more talented, more daring, more fun. In the autumn of the girls' sixteenth year, a secret love tempted Moira, allowing her to have her own taste of adventure, but it also damaged the intimate, intuitive relationship she'd always shared with her sister. Though Moira's adolescent struggles came to a tragic end nearly a decade ago, her brief flirtation with independence will haunt her sister for years to come.

A LONE WOMAN
When Maeve Leahy lost her twin, she left home and buried her fun-loving spirit to become a workaholic professor of languages at a small college in upstate New York. She lives a solitary life now, controlling what she can and ignoring the rest--the recurring nightmares, hallucinations about a child with red hair, the unquiet sounds in her mind, her reflection in the mirror. It doesn't help that her mother avoids her, her best friend questions her sanity, and her not-quite boyfriend has left the country. But at least her life is ordered. Exactly how she wants it.

A SHARED PAST
Until one night at an auction when Maeve wins a keris, a Javanese dagger that reminds her of her lost youth, and happier days playing pirates with Moira in their father's boat. Days later, a book on weaponry is nailed to her office door, followed by anonymous notes, including one that invites her to Rome to learn more about the blade and its legendary properties. Opening her heart and mind to possibility, Maeve accepts the invitation, and with it, a window into her past. Ultimately she will revisit the tragic November night that shaped her and Moira's destinies, and learn that nothing can be taken at face value, as one sister emerges whole and the other's score is finally settled.

Published by Shaye Areheart Books/Random House (Oct. 2009)

The Last Will of Moira Leahy is available through Amazon.com, B&N, and independent or chain bookstores.

About Dar and Peeking Between the Pages:
I'm from Canada and I love, love, love to read. I've liked reading from a young girl-my mom would read to me and I'd read back to her. I'm running out of room to put all these books already, yet I keep buying more. It's a serious addiction. I have a dog, Buddy, who is my kid and runs my house and of course me. I especially love the summer months and sitting outside reading with the dog. I also like knitting and crocheting so along the way I may post some of my crafties. I hope to those who visit that you'll return and visit often!

Thirsty: a novel
Tour Dates: November 9, 2009 - December 9, 2009

Title: Thirsty: a novel

Author:
Kristin Bair O'Keeffe

Genre: Fiction

Synopsis:
It is 1883, and all of Klara Bozic's girlish dreams have come crashing down as she arrives in Thirsty, a gritty steel town carved into the slopes above the Monongahela River just outside of Pittsburgh. She has made a heartbreaking discovery. Her new husband, Drago, is as abusive as the father she left behind in Croatia.

In Kristin Bair O'Keeffe's debut novel, Klara's life unfolds over forty years as she struggles to find her place in a new country where her survival depends on the friends who nurture her: gutsy, funny Katherine Zupanovic, who isn't afraid of Drago's fist; BenJo, the only black man in Thirsty to have his own shop; and strangely enough, Old Man Rupert, the town drunk.

Thirsty follows a chain of unlikely events that keep Klara's spirit aloft: a flock of angelic butterflies descends on Thirsty; Klara gives birth to her first child in Old Man Rupert's pumpkin patch; and BenJo gives her a talking bird. When Klara's daughter marries a man even more brutal than Drago, Klara is forced to act. If she doesn't finally break the cycle of violence in her family, her granddaughters will one day walk the same road, broken and bruised. As the threads that hold her family together fray and come undone, Klara must decide whether she has the courage to carve out a peaceful spot in the world for herself and her girls.

Kristin Bair O'KeeffeAbout the Author:

Kristin Bair O'Keeffe's life is a melding of many cultures. A native Pittsburgher (Go Steelers!) raised with the Croatian traditions of her grandparents, Kristin lives in China with a husband who was raised in Ireland and the Vietnamese daughter.

During their four years in China, Kristin has taught writing, written a blog "My Beautiful Far-flung Life, and attempted to learn Mandarin Chinese (unsuccessfully according to her neighbors). Oh, and written the novel Thirsty. Thirsty started as a graduate thesis and ended after countless drafts. Drafts that, to the dismay of her fellow coffee lovers, she felt the need to read aloud as she edited in a local coffee shop.

If she hadn't become a writer, Kristin suspects that she would have become a ventriloquist, roadie for Meat Loaf, or time traveler. (And yes, she has read The Time Traveler's Wife.) Among other things, she would use her time traveling powers to frequently return home and enjoy the magic that is the hoagies at Danny's Pizza.

Kristin's articles and essays have appeared in numerous publications, including Poets & Writers Magazine, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, The Baltimore Review, San Diego Family Magazine, and The Gettysburg Review. Her column--The Fiction Writing Workshop--appears monthly in Writers on the Rise.
