Greetings!
Our wings allowed us to soar where no
woman (well, these two women) had ever
dreamed possible!
When Angela and I
first thought we'd do a couple of interviews
a month, we didn't envision WOW! as it is
today. How did we get to the world of
deadlines; rubbing keyboards with
fantastically talented, wonderful people;
business meetings; etc.? This issue
highlights half of the reasons for the
success we're enjoying, yes, promotion. The
other half is you: our staff, contributors,
interviewees, and our dear readers. We thank
each of you and want you to know you're
important to us.
Our staff, Joanne Stacey, Jean
Lauzier, Sue Donckels, Chynna Laird, and
Cher'ley Grogg extends their best to you.
They've given above and beyond making this
issue happen and still smile! What a great
spirit and reason WOW! can only become
better and better. Thank you, fantastic job!
WOW!'s new web guy, Glenn
Robnett has joined our team. Not only does he
do a great job (as you will see), he's
keeping us out of court -- as our token guy
-- no discrimination here. Thanks for
everything, Glenn.
NOTE: You may have noticed that the
WOW! website was down. This issue has
now been resolved, but with some loss of
information. If you sent us an e-mail from
May 1 - 2, we probably didn't get it! So,
if it was important, please resend. We
appreciate your patience and support.
Freelancers, take a bow as we call out
your names:
Jean Lauzier, Kathryn Jordan,
Suzanne Carbonaro, Susan Johnston, Tina Marie
Frawley, C. Hope Clark, Ruth Thaler-Carter,
and Annette Fix. Thanks for the excellent
work, it's official, you're appreciated by all.
Now, you know why this will be a terrific
issue. Expect a packed ezine with successful
women's experience, wisdom, heart, and
guidance to better equip you to reach your
chosen destination.
As you open your issue of The
Wings of Self-Promotion you'll be
pleased to discover tricks of the trade that
may even influence the writing of your book.
If you're an editor with questions about your
future, find encouraging answers. Perhaps
you've known there was an industry need to be
fulfilled in your area, you'll be inspired
with what one author did. There is something
here for everyone, even if your dominant
passion is to curl up with a good book. We
can all learn something from these women and
have a greater appreciation of what it takes
to fill the shelves of a bookseller's huge
store.
On a personal level, as well, it takes
fortitude to forge a meaningful life for
yourself today. It takes Self-Promotion in
any area. That's why we felt the subject
deserved an entire issue. We'd love to hear
what you gained
from your reading. Drop a line to editors@wow-womenonwriting.com
or check out what's happening on the blog and
let us know your thoughts and feelings there.

WOW! a call for Graphic Designers:
As you may know, Angela does all the graphic
artwork for the website, as well as her
Editorial work. It's a lot to take on,
especially as WOW! continues to grow.
So we're looking for someone with the
WOW! spirit who is proficient in Adobe
Photoshop and Illustrator to create graphics
on a monthly basis. Please email angela@wow-womenonwriting.com
for detailed information. You may attach
samples of your work. Thank you and we look
forward to hearing from you!
Now, onto the issue. Enjoy!

Deborah LeBlanc
Understanding her responsibility to publicize her book, she took an aggressive approach toward sales promotion.
Jean Lauzier, short story writer and
Contributing Editor for WOW!,
interviews Deborah, highlighting points you
don't want to miss.
Not a closed-minded woman, any handout
Deborah could think of became a reality with
her name and book on it.
She zeros right in on a key to success, one
that anyone can do. It's the reason we feel
privileged to have her join us, and why
you'll love her and what she has to share.
One thing you don't have to do that she's
accomplished, you don't have to become a
licensed death scene investigator. Whew! That
would be a tough one.
But, be certain to check out her interview,
there are many things you will want to emulate.

Amber Mui Fah Stierli, publisher
Amber brings Hawaii's manuscripts back home by creating a new market for Hawaii-based writers!
Amber Mui Fah Stierli started her publishing
company MONKEYPOD INK for a good cause.
While working UH's Manoa Journal she noticed that
many Hawaii-based writers were sending their
manuscripts to the mainland. Why? Because
there's no market for writers in Hawaii who
don't write about Hawaii.
Her first published book Undrawn Lines
is a
remarkable anthology that captures the spirit
of Hawaii's writers. Each of the fifteen
stories are unique in their own way and are
set in places all over the world, even in
outer space!
Amber is an inspiration to women everywhere,
that we can accomplish what we set our minds
to. This article interviews Amber about her
self-publishing experience, and highlights
three authors in the anthology: Feng
Hutchins, Brenda Kwon, and Tamara Pavich.
Amber is helping bring Hawaii's writers back
home, and is the woman to watch, now and in
the future...
