Welcome to the first issue of Trust Matters, exploring trust issues and insights in business, leadership, communication and organizational change.
Known for my writing practice, I am so excited to launch Trust Matters, a new focus for my business and what I came here to do. In promoting new initiatives and helping organizations communicate change for more than ten years, trust has been an underlying issue of my work.
Trust is the great intangible at the heart of every relationship. In business, low levels of trust exist everywhere: distrust between managers and employees, declines in integrity and ethical values, and breakdowns in an organization´s credibility and reputation. Building an environment of trust is a leadership imperative and critical to the bottom line. Once you lose trust, you lose the ability to communicate and lead.
Trust, universally understood and valued, is the most important currency we have in business. I am passionate about promoting trust in business and look forward to helping organizations integrate trust as a competitive asset and promote their highest good.

Building a New Paradigm of Business
While low levels of trust exist everywhere today, there are signs of hope. A shift in corporate consciousness has been happening, from “profit at any cost” to the rise of Conscious Capitalism:

Megatrends 2010, by Patricia Aburdene
This book explores the New Economy of Conscious Capitalism and explains how some firms are taking a stand for corporate social responsibility and ethics in business, proving that spiritual values such as integrity and trust can translate into healthy profits. |

International Center for Spirit at Work (ICSW)

Ethisphere Magazine - World´s Most Ethical Companies
Ethisphere Magazine recognizes and rewards ethical leadership and business practices worldwide. |
Trust is a fundamental, timeless spiritual dimension that is at the core of all business activity. Promoting trust within organizations can create a positive force in the workplace by its focus on both the highest good and the bottom line.

The New Sciences — Lessons for Business
Recent findings from the quantum science world tell us that we each hold the power to connect with the universal energy force and transform our lives. Dr. Bruce Lipton, renowned cell biologist and author of The Biology of Belief, explains that genes do not control our behavior — it is our beliefs that control our lives. Gregg Bradden, former senior aerospace computer systems designer who explores the bridging of science and spirituality, and author of The Divine Matrix, teaches about a web of energy that connects everything. He tells us that we have the power to change our bodies, our lives and our world, based on our feelings and belief of what is real.
This paradigm shift in the biomedical sciences has lessons for business. Leaders can help people trust and believe in themselves, and each individual can know that life is not out of his or her control. As we go about our daily work, we can stay constant in the belief that the work and the outcome will be successful. As Henry Ford said, “If you believe you can or if you believe you can´t, you´re right.”

Choose to Trust
Like everything else in life, trusting in a person, process or belief system is a choice. In business, trust is also a choice. Managers who choose to trust, value, respect and empower their employees will be rewarded with a motivated and productive workforce and greater profitability. Leaders who choose to communicate openly and honestly will create mutual trust and understanding, bolster their credibility and better engage their employees.
Business leaders who make a conscious choice to trust will realize that this is a simpler way...trust first and the results they are seeking will follow.
