Greetings!
The staff and Board of the French-American Chamber of Commerce wishes you a very Happy New Year/Bonne Année! 2012 is starting off with a lot of changes within the FACC, including a new Executive Director, Dr. Sara Baird Amodio (read more about Sara below), and a new President, Omar Soubra. We will greatly miss Virginie Ganivet, who served as Executive Director for 8 years (see announcement below). We would like to take this opportunity to give you a recap of 2011. Last year's calendar of events included popular programs on Immigration and International Estate Planning, Trade Opportunities with France, and Social Media Marketing for Business. Our partnerships with the German-American and Swedish-American Chambers of Commerce and the World Trade Center Denver have grown even stronger with our collaboration on the Euro Networking events. Our two annual fundraising events were very successful in 2011. Our 5th Annual l'Esprit de France Gala celebrated the efforts of former Governor Bill Ritter, which helped finalize the agreement between the State of Colorado and Schneider Electric to develop an electric car infrastructure in Colorado. The 13th Annual Beaujolais and Beyond Food and Wine Festival was a fantastic evening at the Infinity Park Event Center, and everyone enjoyed the fabulous food, wine and entertainment. Look for Euro Networking to start up again in February, as well as other informative, educational and networking opportunities. Our event calendar will continue to develop based on your needs and wants so please feel free to contact us any time if you have suggestions for program topics or event ideas. We're looking forward to a spectacular 2012! Sincerely,
The French-American Chamber of Commerce

In today's tumultuous economic environment investors may be overestimating the probability of extreme financial consequences emanating from Europe. Market investors are worried that the Greek debt default and potential devaluation would put pressure on other financially-troubled countries such as Italy or Spain to exit the Euro. The dominoes would continue to fall as defaults and devaluations caused bank failures and contracting world trade. Ultimately even stronger countries such as France or Germany could succumb to these intense financial pressures, leading to a second global financial crisis and severe recession.
