5th Annual L'Esprit de France Gala
The 5th Annual L'Esprit de France Gala was an unforgettable evening of gourmet food, delicious wine, socializing, and entertainment.
During the cocktail hour, guests mingled and
enjoyed sparkling wine and hors d'oeuvres while placing bids on the wide array of
silent auction items available. A dramatic entrance welcomed guests into the main ballroom which was decorated with roses and red and black accents highlighting the "Carmen" theme. Bill Ritter and Jeff Drees, the guests of honor, were recognized for their significant contributions to French-American business collaboration. Guests enjoyed a five-course French dinner prepared by Westin Chef Jean-Luc Voegele which was paired with wines from WJ Deutsch & Sons. During the meal, Bill Clarke, the MC for the evening, pumped everyone up by auctioning off 5 items in the live auction. In addition, Emily Murdock and John Patrick Lindsey, singers from
Central City Opera, performed excerpts from "Carmen" and "Les Mamelles de Tiresias". The evening wrapped up with a decadent dessert buffet. Proceeds from the event benefit the French-American Chamber of Commerce, promoting trade and investment between France and the Rocky Mountain Region.

Delegation Visit from the Grenoble, Rhone-Alpes Region
The French delegation leaves Colorado amazed at the economic development opportunities between the two regions
On May 4, 5, and 6, we welcomed the third delegation to Colorado from the Grenoble, Rhone-Alpes region. It was an all-star group that included Jean-Pierre Chardon, Chairman of France's National Renewable Energy Cluster Tenerrdis.
Accompanying Jean-Pierre were seven other delegates including, among others; Nouredine Hadjsaid, internationally known expert on "smart grid" and Director of "IDEA", one of Europe's leading research organizations focused on smart grid; Jeanne Jordanov, noted physicist and President of Petale, the Grenoble-based "incubator" that is one of the largest organizations devoted to new business creation in France, Gilles Talbotier, Executive Director of Petale, and Olivier Teller, International Projects Manager for Alstom Power Hydro, the world's largest hydroelectric company. Leading the Grenoble Delegation was Veronique Pequignat, International Development Director for AEPI, the economic development agency for the Grenoble region.
The objective of the visit was to build the personal relationships and knowledge essential to developing joint business development and research collaboration opportunities in smart grid, smart energy management, alternative fuels and energy storage.
The delegates met with economic development officials, political leaders, senior business executives, research leaders from CSU, Innosphere, the new incubator in Fort Collins dedicated to supporting innovative start-up companies, and leaders from the Fort Collins-based Colorado Clean Energy Cluster. Everyone was impressed with the commitment to innovation and business creation.
According to Jean-Pierre Chardon, "Colorado has untapped potential for bi-lateral opportunities between our two regions. I am convinced that the future holds the promise of significant mutual benefits in business development and research collaborations".
"As usual when visiting Colorado with a delegation from Grenoble, we were overwhelmed by how many similarities we saw in our economic environment and energy issues. Both regions have developed a pro-active development policy regarding renewable energy and energy efficiency, and address these issues on a technical level as well as trying to develop the relevant business model. I'm really positive on the fact that companies, academics and researchers on both sides of the Atlantic can benefit from our exchanges!
Our partner CORA was acting as usual as a model of efficiency and care in organizing our visit there, providing with the perfect mix of the right contacts at the right level, a variety of different players, not forgetting the essential aspect of sharing great convivial moments with our hosts, and enjoying absolutely perfect weather!"
Veronique PEQUIGNAT
AEPI - Grenoble-Isere Economic Development Agency
Manager - International Business Investment
"La qualité de l'organisation de la mission par CORA etait excellente pour l'organisation matérielle, très pertinente quant au choix des interlocuteurs;
Jeanne Jordanov
GRAIN/PETALE
President
Many concrete opportunities were identified. Jean-Pierre Chardon signed the Letter of Intent making Tenerrdis an official member of the International Cleantech Network, an organization co-founded by our own Colorado Clean Energy Cluster.
We are proud that every delegate is affiliated with an organization that is a "Partner" in CORA.
In September and October, we will lead delegations to Grenoble. The first will be a senior delegation that includes Colorado companies and major research organizations; the second will be a group interested in developing business with newly commercialized businesses participating in the Grenoble Innovation Fair, an event that annually draws over 100 exhibitors. FACC President Bob Snyder will lead the first delegation - leading the second will be Yann Ropars, Director for Northern Colorado of our newly-opened office in Fort Collins.
Contact Virginie at 303-695-7818 x101 or Virginie@rmfacc.org if you are interested in participating in either of these delegations.
