We Have a New Membership Coordinator |
Welcome Corinne! After a year and a half of auctions and membership coordination, Sara Squires will be stepping down in order to focus more on her family. So FACC is officially announcing our new Membership and Silent Auction Coordinator, Corinne Snyder, who will take over these responsibilities. We look forward to her new energy and quality contributions to this organization! A little about Corinne:After studying and working in Italy, France and Germany, Corinne worked as a product manager for Microsoft's small business portal. She then moved to Denver 11 years ago, and has since worked in International relocation services and for the non-profit fundraising arm of her sons' elementary school. She holds a Masters in International Management from Thunderbird, The American Graduate School of International Management and a BS in Business from the University of Connecticut. Her primary responsibilities with the FACC include managing the membership base and organizing the bi-annual fundraising silent auctions. | Clean Tech Trade Mission to Europe
CAMT (Colorado Association for Manufacturing and Technology) CEO Elaine Thorndike recently joined the Economic Development Administration (EDA) and the International Trade Administration (ITA) on a joint clean tech trade and investment mission to France and Belgium.
The mission supported President Obama's National Export Initiative, which aims to help U.S. firms sell their goods and services abroad with a goal of doubling U.S. exports over the next five years in support of several million American jobs. But it also provided an opportunity to witness how European countries are moving clean tech economic goals forward through university, government, and private industry partnerships.
Why France and Belgium? France is the United States' eighth largest trading partner with total trade of $60.7 billion in 2009. The United States is the top destination for French investments worldwide at $189 billion. Additionally, French investments helped support 604,000 U.S. jobs in 2008.
Likewise, U.S. green exports to Belgium grew by more than 50 percent since 2002, surpassing $500 million in 2009. Total Belgian investment in the U.S. in 2009 was $39 billion, supporting 129,000 jobs in 2008.
