    KidSpeak Neighborhood News (KSNN) will officially launch in April as a multimedia, youth-driven information network providing news about public policies affecting Detroit schools, youths, families and communities.

    KSNN reporters are already out and about writing stories about their neighborhoods and schools in and around Detroit.

    Recent stories, include:

    • Employment Summitt Extols Benefits of Hiring Youths;
    • Skillman Education Plan Seeks to Revolutionize Detroit Schools; and,
    • Youth Learn the Legislative Ropes at the Capitol.

    KSNN is a project of Michigan's Children with support from the Skillman Foundation and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, and in partnership with Detroit Public Television, YouthVille Detroit, the Detroit Free Press, Detroit Regional News Hub, Matrix Human Services and the Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services.


    Save the Date: Star Power 2010!

    The Early Childhood Investment Corporation (ECIC), Great Start Collaboratives and Great Start Parents Coalitions would like to invite ALL early childhood advocates to join them for Star Power 2010 taking place on May 19th on the Capitol lawn.

    Last year, approximately 1,400 parents, teachers, doctors, clergy, law enforcement officials, advocates, children, and others from all over the state gathered on the Capitol lawn to discuss the importance of early childhood in Michigan with legislators.

    This is a FREE event the whole family can enjoy!

    MIChild Outreach & Enrollment

    To decrease the number of uninsured children, the Michigan Primary Care Association, in partnership with the Michigan Association of United Ways, has launched a two-year grassroots initiative to perform outreach and enrollment of children in MIChild or Healthy Kids.
