A Pinwheels for Prevention rally will be held March
23rd at the state Capitol to kick-off Child Abuse
Prevention Month in April.
The event, held on Prevention Awareness Day and
hosted by the Michigan Childrens Trust Fund (CTF)
with the collaborative support and endorsement from
the Michigan Coalition for Children and Families and
Parenting Awareness Michigan, is a great way to
show unified support for the children and families of
Michigan. As it is at the Capitol, it also provides an
opportunity for stakeholders to visit their state
senators and representatives.
The rally will begin at Noon at the Capitol. After the
rally portion of the event, attendees will then walk to
the traffic circle at Washington and Michigan Avenues
where they will plant a pinwheel garden in support of
child abuse and neglect prevention. The pinwheel
represents children and families served by child
abuse prevention programs in Michigan. Media will
be invited.
Last year, 29,401 children were abused or neglected
in Michigan. That's 81 a day.
