On October 30th - just short of another
possible government shutdown - the Governor
signed the final budgets into law, including
the budgets for the Departments of Human
Services (DHS) and Community Health (DCH).
Michigan's Children's Budget Basics report
provides an overview of how these budgets
will affect children and families.
The final budget includes cuts in child abuse
and neglect prevention funding, foster care
payments, and k-12 education, but restored
cuts in before- and after-school programs,
teen parent counseling, and marriage and
fatherhood initatives.
Read more about these and other programs
affected by the final budget on our new Budget
Basics report.
